I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life! You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.

  • How did VanGorder do against spread offenses when he was at UGA? Best I recall, not good. Auburn having new DC and new OC hurts them here.

Clemson will have new DC and Veneables has shown he chokes in big games. This is a big game for Clemson. OU didn't want Veneables to stay there because he isn't a top notch DC and was hurting them. Clemson's offense may be good, but Watkins will be out. Clemson's defense is suspect--to say the least. Defenses win in the SEC.

I will go with Auburn 21, Clemson 17.

auburn's front 4 should be able to get pressure at least in the 2nd half. it's going to be a matter of if auburn can stop the screen passes. that's what i'm the most scared of

Clemson didn't have much of an OL last year either. I think you guys should be able to generate pressure early and often.

Last year most of the screen yardage came after the first guy flat out missed. We were up 21-7 then started arm tackling and they got back in the game. If Boyd was a running threat I'd be more worried.

This is a huge season changer for both teams. I loss and Clemson is back to being the normal Clemson that chokes on expectations. A win for Auburn sets them up for a reaslistic chance at 9 wins....with an outside chance of 10 as well.

I think AU wins going away, 34-20.

    I like this ^^

He doesn't want to be hit either. We found that out last year in the game against us.

  • My prognostication--Auburn 34-Clemson 17. The game won't be as close as the score. Clemson scores a late TD to make it a 17 point game. Auburn shoots up into the top 15 in the nation after this game.

Auburn has been dominant in their first 4 days of practice.

Than can help or hurt against screens depending on execution by the offense and defense. Zone is still the best way to stop a screen consistantly, as all 6, 7, or 8 that are dropping in the zone are looking at the ball at all times for the most part. Tight man can lead to the man making the play or being the one person needed to be picked off my a blocker to create a big play...or at least a first down.

Personally, I don't think Clemson's screen game is that hard to stop, nor is it meant to be. They just want to use it as part of their running game and then they can fake the screen and go deep to Sammy Watkins like they did a bunch last year and get one on one coverage or even a busted coverage. Unfortunately for Clemson, he is not playing in this game.

With him out, I don't think Clemson has anyone that will scare BVG and Auburn controls the line of scrimmage on that side of the ball to give the offense a lot of chances on a short field.

Where we are in trouble is at MLB.

That's what my Auburn buddies said. They love their team and stuff, but they don't follow quite as closely as we do, so they gave me blank stares when I asked about DLine depth, so I'll ask you:

I know you have studs on the DLine with Eguae (sp?), Corey L, and one other I'm forgetting. But do you feel comfortable with their backups? Particularly inside at tackle? I'm not asking to be a jerk...I seriously don't know. Also, what's your secondary going to be like? I can't remember but 1 person's name in your secondary (T'Sharvan Bell). I usually remember all names that start with a T followed by another consonant.

  • Bama fan here... but I think Auburn wins 27-20... Watkins not playing will drop the necessity to double cover and frees a man for the run stop or blitz

I actually think our Dline is going to be a strong point this year. It seams that Lemonier and Dee Ford are going to be the starting ends with Eguae and Sanders being the primary backups. For Dee Ford to pass up a 2 year starter means alot in terms of talent. On the inside, we have about a 5 man rotation with Whitaker and Carter looking to be the starters. A. Blackson, D. Sigler, and G. Wright are going to be the rest of the 5 man rotation. All 5 guys got a ton of playing time last year and really came into their own at the end. I really think depth wise this is the one of the better lines we have had in a really long time. All 5 of these guys are huge and very disruptive. I expect them to have a huge year this year.

Now I am most concerned at LB. and I think that is obvious to anyone who somewhat follows AU.

Secondary, I have heard we have some very fast guys and talented players but none really stood out last year. TBell is going to be back and should start. Davis and Therezie is going to be the other starter. Both of these guys rotated last year until TBell got hurt then they had to start. Word is that after the spring Davis and Therezie are considered the starters but I can't imagine TBell not getting the nod. These guys are supposed to be talented just haven't seen enough of them to form an opinion. Then we have Mincy behind them and freshman behind him. So we have one vet. and talented with limited experience players. I think this is a little week of a position.

Safety, I think we should be pretty good here. We are going to have McNeal, Whitehead, and Florence fighting for playing time. All 3 are going to be good players and all 3 played last year some. Then behind them is Ryan White and Means which both of them saw some field last year. Of course the biggest advantage to this year is NO THORPE.

I think our strongest points are going to be Dline and Safeties.

    Good assessment, IMO.

I think the you LBs have enough speed for Clemson, though, especially if Frost is as advertised.

Auburn's D should be improved....although they may take some lumps again this year, but in 2013 this should be a top 10 unit nationally, IMO.

If Frazier can be a positive and not a negative, 2013 should be a very interesting year in the SEC West, with Bama, LSU, Auburn, and possibly Arkansas all have really top notch teams. Also, Mississippi St and Texas A&M should have really solid teams that year as well.
