In your guys' opinions, who has the better OL and DL?

I would say us on both. We are more experienced and talented on Dline and they are replacing as much as we are on the oline, but we have an experienced anchor and overall more talented line. Their line is certainly older tho and prolly more developed from a physical standpoint.

  • I'm going to say Auburn wins then. I'm a firm believer that the battle is won in the trenches.. Which is why I love what Hoke is doing with his recruiting, fwiw.

Wouldn't be so sure of that. Their S & C sucks and even they'll admit that.

I would say AU and AU. We are both replacing alot of the Oline. they replace everyone and are replacing with Fresh and Soph. we replace everyone but Center and replace with soph and redshirt soph. Not much different in reality but I know for AU, we rotated alot of the guys who will be starting last year so they should have some experience under them. I don't know if clemson did the same. On Dline, AU should be way better than clemson. Our ends are veteran ends and Lemonier is a All-SEC caliber player. Our tackles are a little young (sophomores), but they all played significant roles last year. Our Dline is going to be one of our strongest position this year and for years to come.

AU def has a chance to run away with this one as we always play well in the GA Dome. This will be a home game for us especially with us buying out about 30% of CU's ticket allotment.

You really think Auburn holds Clemson to 14? Laughable

CaptAU is laughable. 2 new Coord and *U fans think they don't skip a beat. Barner Matthews is pumping so much sunshine up *U's fanbase the government is thinking about making them an alternative light source. The down fall of *U will be fun to watch this year and it all begins with game 1 vs Clemson. *U will not get to 10 ponits in this one and the oaks at Toomer's will be safe this year. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

  • I predict Blackson to cause at least one Clemson OL to lose control of his bowels.

    You too?

Michigan had to send tickets to Tuscaloosa as well since they couldn't sell them. These other conferences don't even want to see the beatings it seems like.

Can't speak for Cappie, but as someone who isn't an Auburn fan, I had Clemson by maybe 3-7 points originally, but with the suspensions and some other information I've heard, I have AU out in front close, but putting a score up late to pull away just a bit.

I think there could definitely be growing pains on offense, but they are going to an offense that should be easier to learn and there was so much turmoil between what GC and TR wanted from the defense last year I don't see how having a new DC will be an issue personally.

KF's decision making will be the biggest factor in the game, IMO as I don't think Clemson has the guns with the suspensions to turn it into a shootout.

    BetterOff

  • New coordinators are usually a bigger deal (negatively) than they will be for AU this year. I mean, really. How much worse could either side of the ball be? Especially on D. AU will improve 40 spots this year nationally. I'd bet a ball on it.

  • Losing Watkins really hurts Clemson but they do have a good WR corps behind him and they won the ACC last year and return 15 starters. Boyd is a dynamic QB who put up some gaudy numbers last season, Ellington is a good RB with a great burst, but the OL could be an issue replacing 3 starters. The DL doesn't appear to be a strength either, at least right now. The back 7 is solid though and returns a bunch of starters with a lot of experience.

On the other side, Auburn doesn't have a proven QB. Frazier will start but can he throw well enough to win big games yet? McCalleb is fast and dangerous in open space but can he run between the tackles all game? The OL should be improved but still not elite, not in Game 1. The WR's are average but Lutz is a very productive/dangerous TE. The DL should be very good and should give Clemson a lot of problems. The back 7 is not as good but AU's defense has to improve over last season.

I think AU's biggest advantage is their DL vs. Clemson's rebuilt OL. This could be a big problem for Clemson even though they have such great skill position talent...can't get them the ball if the OL isn't blocking. For Auburn, I'm not sure they have the offensive talent and a good enough grip of the new scheme yet to really score a lot. New schemes take time to learn...more time than one Spring/Fall. Clemson did give up 70 in their last game though...either way, I think suggesting (as one AU fan did) that AU has a chance to "run away" with anything is absurd barring several TO's. AU's offense was atrocious last season and with a new scheme, an unproven QB, what appear to be an average OL/WR corps (for now), and the loss of Dyer meaning no proven every down RB's...meh.

I think AU's DL will cause trouble and keep them in the game but I think eventually Clemson will beat Auburn on some big plays and will be able to keep AU from scoring too much even though their defense is pretty mediocre. I think this score could go either way though, to be honest...should be a good game.

    Clemson - 23
    Auburn - 17

Very very fair assessment. I disagree with some of it but not because I didn't understand where you were coming from.

-He won't even be asked to run between the tackles all game.

-Blake is an upper echelon WR in the SEC. Overall, AU's WRs will be above average and will only be benefited by Lutz being primarily a receiving threat this year instead of a blocker.

    -And it's a big advantage.

A win for Auburn sets them up for a reaslistic chance at 9 wins....with an outside chance of 10 as well.

I think AU wins going away, 34-20.

    9? 10 ? lol
neither of those numbers are likely (7).

as for the opener ? it depends on which defense caves the most.
but the Aubs could win this one if Frazier can complete 50% of his pass attempts & a few key third downs.

    its only Clemson.
