Just like drunk driving laws don't prevent tragedies, it's a worthy effort to try and slow them down. The argument that "criminals will still get assault weapons" is weak. Criminals still drink and drive. We don't just throw our arms up and say screw it just take a laws of DUI off the books.

Assault weapons are banned. Taking semi-autos is what you mean. That includes, shotguns, Pistols, semi-automatic hunting rifles, AR-15's etc.
If you have an assault weapon, you're either an Authorized dealer and Class 3 license holder ( takes around 15,000 dollars to acquire) or a criminal who purchased one illegally. Banning (Semi-automatic rifles) will only take them out of the hands of law abiding citizens who would never use them for evil purposes.

While i have nothing against this idea, i have a hard time believing it would generate anywhere near enough money. Or maybe im just out of touch with how much pot is smoked. You are probably looking at at least 500k a year for my city of about 60k. Thats alot of pot.

Why wipe it out? That would make it legal to drink and drive. That would be stupid. It's illegal to shoot someone for no reason. They got rid of Alchohol. It was called prohibition. Governement made Alchohol illegal. It's what ushered in what we know as "the mob". That worked out well. You can't just banish shit an expect it to get better. People will find ways around everything

Only bad thing is that some communities do not have enough officers to work the schools and then patrol the streets. My solution:
1. All exterior doors must be locked.
2. Must be buzzed in and screened again by office staff. In one door, out one door.
3. All interior classroom doors must be locked while children are inside and that can only be opened from the inside.
4. A minimum of 1 police officer or 2 Military personnel will be stationed in every school in america. Active duty or reserves. Instead of drill, you go to a school. Wear a dress uniform with a sidearm. We can spend 3 trillion in Iraq/Afghanistan, but we don't spend money to protect our children. It is about money.......F everyone else and lets protect US.

Honestly,
I think that we are going back and forth with remedies for a situation that you just can't remedy. You can make it harder for things like this to happen, but that makes our lives seem like we are living in a prison based on fear. Fact of the matter is, if some nutjob decides that he is going to go batshit crazy and walk in a room and find a way to do unspeakable things like this, there is nothing that is going to stop it. Preparing the rest of the country for things like this is going to turn this country into East Germany back in the day.

It's against fire code to lock school doors. At least it is where I live but I Agree. Key codes for parents, doors that automatically unlock if the fire alarm is tripped....I can still sport shoot AR-15's and kids don't have to get killed. The government can cut costs somewhere to fund safety measures. There's not much more that's more important.

Give me something that will fix it? All I'm hearing is sticking police in kindergartens, metal detectors in all schools, banning automatic weapons (which is a joke because they are still going to be easy to get, especially from a man hellbent on making the news and killing himself at the end of it), and what else?
Your putting solutions out there that do nothing but make our lives more government controlled and don't stop a fvcking thing.
