It matters b/c according the the US Constitution, you must be a natural born citizen of the US to be president. Whether we are talking about Obama or someone 16 years from now.

If you think the constitution or something in it is dumb, then I suggest you get involved politically and push for an amendment that will allow for anyone to run for president.

When discussing this topic you must realize if Barack came out and said he was born in Kenya the Left would say that's racist and smear him.....then realize what they are doing and put forth legislation to change the pesky citizenship requirements with Barack as the sole person who gets to decide if he remains president or not.

I have no idea how that would be handled. It wouldn't be an impeachment, because he never did anything illegal. What might happen is that someone would sue...the electoral college? And ask a judge to vacate the Presidency. At which point I'd wonder if someone would ask the USSC if that clause in the Consitution is actually invalidated by the 12th Amendment.

Probably a dumb suggestion by me, but it doesn't say anything about citizenship or eligibility in that Amendment, but directs how we elect a President. It's possible you could argue that because this defines how you can become President, anything NOT mentioned becomes immaterial - unless you're named the VP.

Um if the country elected a Farrrrr left or farrrrr right president who was white and looked Dutch and some rumors came out that he was born in Holland people would get pissed. People hate Barack because he's trying to "advance" the country about 40 years in 4. It's like he is trying to form a totally postmodern, secular society with socialistic ideals at break neck speed.
