Opening ceremony mostly left me scratching my head, what I saw of it at least. I was wondering what does a clip from Trainspotting have to do with the Olympics? Turns out Danny Boyle put the show together so he was just putting his own movie out there.

Almost had our first huge upset of the Games. Michael Phelps and Laszlo Cseh, who were both expected to medal in the 400 IM, paced themselves a little too much in their semifinal heat this morning. Phelps nosed Cseh at the line by 0.07 seconds, which put Phelps at third and Cseh at 4th with a heat to go. In the final heat, 5 swimmers beat Phelps, putting him at 8th overall, and knocking Cseh, an expected medalist, out of the final.

The favourite and world record holder in the 400m freestyle Paul Biedermann looks like he just got knocked out in the heats.
Also the other favourite in the 400m freestyle Park Tae-Hwan just got disqualified.

In the first medaling event, China goes gold-bronze in women's 10M air rifle shooting. The US had two finalists, but neither medaled.

OpenIng ceremony was absolutely horrible. Harry Potter meets Mary Poppins? Mr bean in chariots of fire? One wtf moment after another. The queen and James Bond helicopter skit was shot in the middle of the frekkin day and then presented as if it was in real time last night.

That event is a joke...shooting a rifle from a tri-pod at a 10 meter distance....Rock paper scissors would be a better event.

Its pretty simple. I learned the rules in like 2 mins. She got carded cause she used her arm to cover her body and she didn't get the point because she her attempt didn't land in the score area first

Yeah he seemed zoned out or just not very impressed with his performance. Certainly isn't talking like a two time defending champ.
