What was the consensus on Bama CB commit Maurice Smith? He looked good in the 7-on-7 that I was able to watch but I was wondering what the analyst think of his potential. I see he is ranked 197 on the Top247 list...any chance he moves up or is he properly ranked as it is? TIA

Freak "athletically" but not on the football as a RB.
He doesn't play elite competition and when he did, it was a 2A team, Buford, that made him look bad. He had like 39 yards on 17 carries and his team was down 49-0 before he broke a 70+ yard TD run with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game. He has major work to do to be an SEC RB.
If he played in Georgia's large class he'd face Buford level competition at least 4-5 times per year..... Especially if his team advanced in the playoffs.
I'd say 5 star if it were merely for athleticism but not in terms of ability as a RB, running the ball nor catching passes out the backfield.
