  • If this was the end of the season...the SEC would have 3 teams in the playoffs and ND would have to beat two in a row. "Do you think the playoffs makes us less dangerous or more?" -Taken from Shaft...sorta!

Good luck to the rest of the world...RTR!

  • There would actually only be 2 SEC teams in the playoff after the SECCG.

If they don't remove the SECCG conference game...yes! How does that benefit the conference to keep it now?

True. How would the if's help your team?

If OSU and PSU are intelligible for post season, their 3rd place finish still carries weight!

  • You also can't go by the BCS or AP rankings at this point either. I'm pretty sure that a 25 person (I think) subcommittee would choose the four teams and have their own seperate rankings for the playoff and conference championships supposedly will factor in a lot more than they do with the BCS' method for ranking the teams. I'm honestly not sure on the specifics, but you can't take into account the BCS rankings at all, and I'm pretty damn sure that the criteria that the playoff subcommittee will use is completely seperate from the AP (which the BCS actually does take into account). Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

    BCS uses the coaches poll.

Still isn't this new playoff subcommittee supposed to be completely independant from any of the other polls? Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that they have all the kinks worked out on how the new committee is going to work. I think they have until next summer to figure it all out.

Yeah I think that would/should replace the coaches/Harris poll.

The new committee would be actually watching all the gms.

That's my understanding. If we weren't using the BCS system this year, then I'm willing to bet that the top 4 teams would currently be ND, Bama/UF/UGA (2 of those 3), and Oregon. I guess we'll find out though.

Personally, I like the idea of the current BCS rankings choosing the top 4 teams. It takes the human equation out of it which really bugs me. BCS may be jacked at times, but there are going to be some really upset people after the playoff system gets going. I wonder if the selection committee has to explain their picks??

Yeah I don't know about the explanation and whether that is a stipulation or not. I don't think they even know how the members are going to be selected. I know that it's going to have a mix of people that represent all conferences. I think they said it would be people like former coaches, AD's and things like that. Like I said, I think they have until some point in the summer of 2013 to have it all figured out so we will see.

There are still going to be teams upset no matter how the teams are chosen. This year UF and Muschamp are complaining and when it goes to four teams, the number 5 and 6 teams will complain. If it were an 8 team playoff, the number 9 and 10 teams would bitch. You're always going to have one or two teams crying about not being included, no matter what system we go to.

  • Exactly why it should be an eight team playoff. Wtf is a four team playoff? So lame!!! I think teams like A&M, Stanford, the loser of Bama/UG game, etc...could all make a run at a NC. I think an eight team PO makes so much more sense is more exciting and fair.
