***2014 rankings tidbits (UPDATED MONDAY)

Some guys slid ahead of Daub, but he likely will not drop.

    I was just messing.

I haven't watched Peppers' film or anything but the first thought in my mind when I read NJ DB is overrated so I understand Nova's stance.

Just put an asterisk next to his name. If he goes to a school above the M-D line, he can keep his ranking. But if he commits to a college below it, his ranking automatically drops 30 spots. cool

    Solid player

But giving him 5 stars before he has even played his junior is everything that is wrong with rankings

JC is great but this is a major fail

He even said he hasn't attended any camps

So what in gods name makes him a 5 star already ? A 2 min highlight reel of a sophomore RB ? That is all you need to get the title of best DB in america ? Times have changed i guess

lol i really like JC and have followed him around for a solid 5 years

But i gotta speak my mind on this one

Peppers is a fine prospect, and maybe cone his NSD he will have earned 5 stars

But right now ? Come on

There should maybe be 2 or 3 5 stars this early, if that

I know rankings are fun but this is where they get henious, and a poor kid then has to live up to hype he never should have had

Ill take Ermon Lane over Peppers all day long, among many others and its very very early

  • Did Ed Paris drop to a four star?

Even though he is an LSU lean. I never felt like he was a 5 star, number #1 safety player.

Always though he would be a mid to high 4 star.

Excited to see where Trey Quinn is, Barton said he would get a very good ranking.

I'm from NJ and have seen Peppers play many times, kid is a freak and the ranking is justified He was the best player on the best HS program in the country and Bosco was loaded last year with talent. Don't understand the hate on NJ football and especially a kid who played at Don Bosco, who is a program that can compete at any level in any state.

Don Bosco is not the best program in the country. It's a very good program but the best in the nation? No way

You can argue that other programs may be better than Bosco, but Bosco is up there. They beat everyone they play and produce tons of high level D1 talent year after year.

Beating everybody you play in high school means nothing to me

Go look at STA's list of players in the NFL

    Or Miami NW

    Or Miami central

    Or Pahokee

    Or Belle Glade Central

And Don Bosco has an advantage of recruiting the state with no real threat from anybody else

Its like a NJ all star team

Up there ? Sure, likely in my top 15

But i think of a bunch of programs in Ga, Fl, South Cal or just Cali in general and of course Texas that are way better over the course of recent history

Other teams produce more NFL talent, I'm not arguing that. I am saying who is the best HS program as far as winning HS football games and Bosco is right up there with the best of them. They play teams from all over every year and usually win. They haven't lost in 3 years I think and they played De La Salle in CA and Pratville and one or two FL teams and OH teams. Bosco only usually gets kids from north jersey too so its not all of NJ or an NJ All-Star team as you say and why would that matter anyway, it is what it is. Obviously FL, CA, Texas are better football states than NJ, but Bosco is a top class program who plays other good programs every year and wins.

    Meh

    They pick games wisely imo

Great program yes, never impressed me that much though

I wouldn't even watch them unless they were playing a real Florida power in a year they were both good

The south is a different animal and my kind of football, only those who have seen it live or played against it truly understand

New Jersey ? Eh, even its best are boring to me

I agree that the South as a whole probably has more entertaining football and better players overall, but Bosco is one school not from the South that can compete with anyone. They definitely do not play entertaining football, but what ever they do it wins them games. They always have a great defense and a great running back and play smart, tough football.

I think Paris is a 5* based on the fact that some kids in the current class and pas classes were 5* that he's a better prospect than. I don't think he's can't miss or even the best DB in Texas(Tony Brown) or from LA(Laurence Jones) but I'll be more than happy if/when he commits to LSU. Imagine us getting all of those 3! Just nasty.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then. ESPN has had them as #1 team in the country 2 of the last 3 years though and I think a few places had them #1 last year, but you can have your opinion.

Bosco and St. Thomas Aquinas play this year, how is St. Thomas supposed to be?

They have some studs on defense (Bosa, Moten, Al Harris Jr has major potential) and two or three good a** WRs but question marks at QB and RB. They'll still drum Bosco just like Armwood did DLS last year.
