Chad C would be the best. He manages the team that does all the timeline and rankings updates. Thanks for helping out!

    Thank you sir!

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Thanks. A lot of stuff going on there. I'll need to see why it's doing that.

What about states that are not researched properly for recruit rankings from other sites? Those states players and teams schools just have to deal with it? I ask because it is notoriously known that Louisiana is not properly evaluated like other states by "other" recruiting services like 247's service does while other states and college's picks are shown favoritism by the "other" sites. It is not a coincidence that LSU's team ranking dropped when the "new info" was entered. It is also no coincidence that other teams continually have better classes on "paper" yet there is not a more talented team in the country than LSU.

This is not going over well at all on our Geaux 247 board and I agree we have a bitch about this setup. Most of the people there left other sites to get away from th that went into the rankings and yet here we are having to look ESPN's and Rivals rankings of La players even though not one of their analyst has stepped foot in La.

Just thought I would share most of our members are sharing on our board. I hope their are some modifications made because even though this new setup is not supposed to have bias, it actually shows it does. Thanks for your ears gentlemen.

Noah: Who do we PM with the other rankings updates? I know multiple MSU recruits with 1 or 2 bars who have been rated on at least 3 sites; I'm glad to pass on the links to their respective profiles on other sites, so where do I send the PM?

Thanks man, this is a huge project, no doubt.

We should now be up to date on all current commit lists. But if you see any that are not, please PM my way. Thanks!

I appreciate it; thanks a lot. Sadly that dropped one of MSU's guys down to 3-stars (Darian Hicks; 247 was the only site to have him at 4-stars).

Quick question: will you guys be updating these as each site in the public domain updates their rankings, or is this going to be a once/month or so update of the whole database? I guess my question is should we send you updates when individual recruits get new rankings on other sites, or would you prefer to just do a comprehensive look at the end of a certain period of time. Just let us know; thanks again, this sounds like it was a ton of leg work, but it's a very cool concept. Well received on my home board.

  • Not sure if this has been said yet, but...

I haven't been able to look too much in depth at them, but a poster on MGoBlog pointed out a major flaw in the way you do the rankings.

"Ross Douglas is ranked the Composite #355 overall prospect (#28 CB) while Darian Hicks is ranked the Composite #256 overall prospect (#24 CB). Rivals, Scout, ESPN, & 247Sports all have Ross Douglas ranked above Hicks in their indvidual rankings so it is unclear how Douglas is lower in the Composite.

They only used inputted the data from each services top prospects lists(Rivals 250, ESPN 300, Scout 300) into their system. Because Hicks is not ranked in any those lists, he maintains only his 247Sports ranking (which turns out to be his highest). Douglas is ranked by a lot of those lists and that actually ends up bringing his ranking down because it is below his 247Sports ranking."

This is a problem and I hope the formula is reworked to avoid things like this

  • The problem is that it requires too much of the other companies. I pay for 247, that's the rankings I expect to get.

Notice how everybody else gets a response, but apparently your concern doesn't deserve one? They could at least answer the one negative response to this "awesome" new feature, don't ya think?

  • Lucky has been responding but he's stuck on this idea. I'm fine with keeping the composite if we are also able to see the 247 team rankings (since that is what we subscribe for).

Well, you're wrong (and I think you'll be happy about that). They don't just use the Rivals250, Scout300, etc. Hicks is down to a 3-star on the composite rankings, and dropped to somewhere in the 400s or so nationally.

All of the MSU guys who are ranked on other sites have had those rankings imputed. That includes Jay Harris' 2-star rating from TOS; doesn't get much lower on the list than that lol

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

It will update as each of the networks update their rankings, yes.

This didn't ruin what the staff will do if that is what they are going to add (I have no clue what they are planning on). If they wanted to they could spit out the numbers for 247Sports (only) team rankings. I think other factors came in when adding this. There are multiple multiple ways you can go with this. What they did today was the biggest step though. Pulling on the information together and spitting something out. This is just a building block on what they can do. It is a very big building block though.

I was making stuff up because i wanted a response from staff sorry.

We'll have any recruit in the system with a composite. Unless it's someone we really don't know, then even then it wouldn't have been much use with him unranked with us.

Yea sorry i was trying to get info out of you guys. Ha ha. Cause of something i have always wanted on a recruiting site.

Sorry for making stuff up Noah.

I don't think you understood my post. What I meant was, I value the opinion of the 247 staff by subscribing here. It is the team rankings of the 247 staff I would like to see, not just the composite which relys too much on what other, less competent sites are doing. What stops them from doing a similar format?
