4 team playoff: ND, Bama, UGA, UF: who says ND wins?

  • comesatime

  • I'll say it. Why not? How wi I be proven wrong here, it's not going to happen. So I say they win the the first by 25 points and the second by 17.

    Do I win anything?

  • It'd be:

    1. ND vs. 4. UF
    2. UA vs. 3. UGA

    Correct?

If so, we'll get to see the latter take place next Saturday.

  • I don't think it would be terribly easy for the SEC teams. Notre Dame is built like an SEC team.

I still think Alabama is the favorite under any scenario.

I think it's going to be a hell of a game one way or the other. The best team that day will win. Time will tell.

Yeap. You have seen your team win 3 NC's in your lifetime. I have never experienced that.

  • This year is a great example of why it is important to limit a 4-team playoff to teams that at least win their division. Imagine a scenario in which Ohio State were eligible this year and beat Nebraska next week to go to 13-0. Notre Dame and Ohio State would certainly be in the 4-team playoff, leaving two spots up for grabs. The SEC champ would certainly get one of the other spots. The other spot would likely go to either 11-1 Florida, 11-1 K-State, 11-1 Oregon, or 11-2 SEC runner-up. The two most likely would be Florida and SEC2, but Florida would have the "advantage" of a better record because they didn't qualify for their title game. I would hate to see an incentive for losing.

and if they did the loser of the SECG would likely be out of the top 4. shrug

dumbest thing i've ever heard as "some divisions" are simply better than others.
at one point last season LSU,Bama, & Arkansas were 1,2,3 nationally & all in the SEC West.

its an easy process, finish among the Top 4 or STFU & go the house. coffee

Conference tie-ins give us this sh7t...
Orange Bowl - FSU vs winner of Rutgers / L'Ville
Rose Bowl - Stanf / UCLA winner vs Nebraska / Whisky winner
Fiesta - B12 Champ (K-St,Okla, or Texas) lol

i'll say it again, finish in the top4 or STFU & go home.

    Like I said,

You can keep adding teams, but the bitching will never end. You could have it like we do now or we could have 16 teams. In any circumstance, there will still be a few teams that will complain that they should have a shot. You just have to figure out the cut line. I wouldn't go past 8 and actually like 4 better now that I think about it. Maybe 6 teams if you have 4 super conferences. Give the 1 and 2 ranked teams a bye and give two non super conference teams a shot as well. Only conference champions get the 1-4 rank in the playoff.

    1-2 ranked teams get byes

    3-6 (non aq team)
    4-5(non aq team)

    1 vs 4-5 ranked game
    2 vs 3-6 ranked game

    Championship game

Maybe the non-aq teams have to be top 12-16 and undefeated to even have a shot. If you don't get that, then the highest ranked non conference winners take those two spots.

My point is that if there were a 4-team playoff Florida should not get into the playoff ahead of Georgia, but they would have an advantage because of a better record 11-1 vs. 11-2, assuming Alabama beats Georgia. Florida would theoretically make the top 4 BECAUSE THEY LOST to Georgia and thus got to avoid Alabama. I don't think we want a system that rewards teams for losing.

i agree their will always be criers but im not buying it. imo, Conf Champs dont have a dog in the fight either (FSU is a conf champ do they belong ?).

    1-4 everyone else goes home
    1-8 everyone else goes home
    1-16 ? now we can talk Cinderella's

    as i've posted before....Ghost's Sweet 16
    * there are 11 Conference's & each Conf Champ gets an auto -in if they finish among the Top 20(or 25)
    * remaining slots filled by highest ranked non Conf Champs
    > rnd 1 highest seeds get home site game
    >rnd 2 , F4,NCG utilize current bowl rotation (adding Cotton, Chick-fil-A, +1) for remainder of the playoffs
    # Hawaii Bowl hosts the two highest ranked non-playoff teams each year.

other bowls get better participants & are atleast worthy of watching vs current format....
and if you dont make the playoffs ? STFU and try not to lose games next year.

***** " if you didnt play your way into the playoffs its because you simply played your way out." *****

and my point is (much more simple) ....

Bama & Georgia have had good seasons & if either is NC worthy they will win the SECCG.
the loser must hope and pray for graceful placement in the final poll , or take their ball and go home.

on "avoided Alabama"... Georgia avoided LSU as did all non SEC schools. shrug

1 thru 4 and everyone else "didnt play their way in."
keep in mind that if Georgia/Bama were undefeated a loss in the SECCG would likely keep them both above Florida in the poll. but a 2nd loss is a 2nd loss.
