Only in jewelry. I never really bought into the whole Gold/silver explosion. I still think in the next 5 years it's gonna drop 30% but so far I've been wrong. Dead wrong.

Now would be a good time to sell it if you did, gold as well. I made a killing in the 70s when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the market. To bring the market back down the Federal government dumped a bunch in the 80s.While silver is not as high right now as in the late 1970s, if you bought it right it is still a good time for selling imo.

Remember back in the day when silver was 50 an ounce, they found other methods to do things that they once did with Silver.
It is an investment with not much to lose, the price is not going to drop anytime soon.
Gold is used for jewelry and stuff like that.. People use Silver to build stuff and it has more use than Gold.
I would say it's not a dumb investment but don't hope to make a fortune because I don't see it going back to $50 but I can see a marginal profit, I think it goes up a few more dollars.

just buy SLV and GLD. Much more liquid and easier to trade. There are also leveraged precious metal ETFs if you feel like truly speculating hard.
