Sorry just remembered that Snow is surviving as a warg now.

There's no confirmation of this. He just gets stabbed multiple times; there's no indication that he's actually been killed.

FWIW, remember how the Targaryns have silver hair? Why is Jon Snow's hair black? I think they forshadowed the answer in a Game of Thrones when all of King Robert's bastards have black hair, no matter what the mom's hair color. That would mean Lyanna Stark's dark hair would overshadown Rhaegar's silver, hence Jon's black hair.

Yeah, one of the reasons I don't want to read any more. It's gone past realism to pessimism- all the 'more moral' ( none are entirely moral IMO ) characters are dying.

It's not fun to read when every decent character you connect to is killed off.

No, the wildlings under Mance Rayder are not linked with the Others.

I don't think Jon, Dany, Arya, Bran or Rickon are going to die.

Jon becomes a warg- unless there's a way to get his body back...

And I was never a fan of most of those other characters...I kind of like Dany but she isn't enough to keep me reading.

Jon IS a warg; I think Melisandre brings him back, since it's already been shown that Red priests/priestesses can resurrect people.

Also, since the Night's Watch serves "until death", it's a convenient way to allow him to get out of his vow and start bringing the pain to certain individuals who threatened him at the end of Book 5 . . .

I agree with you. I think Jon will be brought back and end up being what Melisandre wants him to be.

Well, it says "Spoilers" in the thread title lol

What you don't know is HOW these things happen, or when they happen. So, in some ways, there's still plenty of surprises in store.

No one knows. They pretty much just go around killing people and resurrecting them as ice zombies. Melisandre says that they're the servants of the "Great Other", who is the eternal enemy of her "Lord of Light", R'hllor.

Dunno I kind of wonder if R'hllor is malevolent. Seems to like some shady things like human sacrifice which I generally consider bad.

I wonder if R'hllor really IS the 'great other.'

I don't know. The POV of Melisandre is pretty revealing in that, at the very least, she isn't evil.

Yeah, be forewarned when I offer up explanations I stopped reading 3/4 of the way through book 5 out of disgust. And I haven't read the other books in years.

i dont think he is a warg. i think he is azor ahai reborn(who melisandre thinks stannis is). in the books it says that azor ahai will reborn amidst smoke and salt and it plainly states that his wounds smoked while bowen marsh cried. there is your smoke and salt. also at one point melisandre looks into her fire to see if she can see azor ahai and all she sees is snow. he also has a dream in a dance with dragons where he is at first fighting wildlings "raining down fire on them and slaying them. He wears armor of black ice and has a burning red sword in hand." and after he fights wildlings he fights dead rangers who are now others

    ding, ding, ding.

That is why I was saying Snow would become the "lightbringer" but that's actually the name of his sword once he becomes azor ahai. I said that he would become what she thinks Stannis will be but I didn't want to get to far into it.

The terminology is getting confused here a bit: A warg is someone who can project their thoughts into animals and control them. When a warg dies, their consciousness leaves their body and goes into an animal.

All the Stark kids + Jon Snow are wargs. Now whether anyone has "warged" into an animal permanently upon death. . . I don't know. I suspect Robb did, since Grey Wind went berserk after Robb was killed.

I was just stating that Jon is a warg, not that he's inside of Ghost permanently.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

FWIW, I'm 99% sure that Coldhands is Benjen Stark.

I might be lost in the names of the direwolves but didn't they lop off Rob's head and his direwolf and then sew his direwolf's head on his body? You might be saying that his direwolf got crazy when he died, before they lopped of the wolf's head, but I would assume that all of them would knowing that species after watching their master killed. They seem like the most loyal animal I have ever heard of when it comes to their masters.

Exactly. A lot of things in this thread are debatable but the fact that Snow is a warg and is currently surviving by inhabiting animals instead of his own body is not. With that said, I also thought that Snow was going to be Azor but then gave up on it when he died. I hope you are right and he does have a plan to bring him back as a pivitol character.
