A few Montravius Adams notes

  • Stopped by his school today, and will post a short video interview in a few minutes .... In the meantime, here are some nuggets:

-Michigan State is expected at his school on Thursday.
-Auburn's Gene Chizik was there last Friday.
-Montravius has said all along he would name a top 6 when he season ended. Today, he told me it might be a top 4 or top 5. That's a sign that he is zeroing in on the real contenders.
-Montravius will probably tell us in December exactly when he will announce (will be his nephew's birthday, but won't say date yet).

Again, the video interview is coming shortly. I kept it brief today. Talked mostly about Georgia, since he just visited there over the weekend.

    USC lock

The video makes it sound like UGA is top dog right now... Don't know that I would call him a lock, especially to a team he doesn't mention.

On the Vienna, GA exit. Needless to say, that is UGA homer land, so it is quite odd to be such a sign in UGA land, with LED lights and all shiny in a very small farming town.

Auburn's got him in the bag, but Adams is highly overrated. He plays very small level classification and SHOULD dominate every snap just due to his size. Avg OL is around 180lbs in that classification. I watched Adams vs a 6A (highest classification in GA) team and Adams was a sled.

  • Georgia feels good right now from what I am told. I think the Bulldogs are possible, so is Clemson, Auburn is right there, Alabama and Florida are in it and to me, USC is a darkhorse, though I can't see his mom wanting him to go that far from home.

  • Not to say I'm an insider on this, but my source told me a year ago that the Tiger teams were on him most, after them the Dawgs were there. I hear now it's UGA and Clemson, for what it's worth.

I would love to see Adams get to play for Chizik at Auburn next season.

Yeah, ok. I know what I have seen and I will go with that, and what Alabama and other colleges did once they saw Adams perform (they walked away).

At the very least, if you take what you noted and what I noted, he's a 50/50 chance to be good.

My team has nothing to gain with Adams' recruitment, so I will rest assured in what I and others have seen from him.

  • I have always been under the impression that he would be more effective, and a better fit, at DT (in particular, 3-technique) in a 4-3. UGA will sell well, but I hope he goes with his first offer, and desired position, at Clemson.
