  • Its actually a pretty good deal for the conference considering the circumstances.

Wow. Big 12 is at $20 Million not counting Tier 3 and without a conference championship game. Who the hell did those negotiations for the ACC?

The Big 12 under values their tier 3. While it is better than the ACC the conference is still leaving money on the table.

The ACC could only do so much with the renegotiation. The original deal was/is still terrible. You are locked into ESPN for everything. The ACC could support their own network but they are going to have to wait 15 years. That is going to be a really long time.

    ErnieMcCracken

  • So let me get this straight.

ESPN pays the ACC less than they pay the other conferences.

ESPN owns every single ACC game whereas they only own the majority of the other Conference's games.

Is that what this deal is saying?

pretty much yeah and oh if you're a football school not in the state of North Carolina, you're SOL.

It says that ESPN will own the East coast - especially the South East.

And the ACC is now ESPN's favorite conference. Watch them improve.

Yeah- that is correct. The original deal was/is the problem Despite expansion and the "look ins" there is no way ESPN was going to deviate much from the first deal.

In the case of the B1G they do not even own the majority of the games. They get first or second pick of the game they want each week and that is it. Our network gets the rest.

Watch them improve as a basketball conference yes but it's been over as a football conference for a long time now

Not exactly. ESPN owns, at most, only 1 tier for other conferences and they aren't paying any of them 17 million a year. The Big 12, Big 10 and Pac 12 are also getting paid by Fox. The Big East and SEC are also getting paid by CBS.

    Not true

VT is gonna stay the top 15-25 team they always are

FSU should return to BCS contenders every year and contend for national titles

Miami is still a wild card and potential major power depending on what happens down there

Clemson looks to remain in the top 25 or so and is just the right coach away from being a national contender imo

All the ACC needs is a Top 10 team that can beat Top 10 teams, VT has proven it can't be that team.... maybe once in a blue moon.... at home.... but not year after year

Nobody expects the ACC to be the best football conference, but it doesn't need much in terms of getting the retarded ass national media to say its stepped up a notch or two and is now a respectable football conference

I just find it interesting that the number is so low. Clemson/FSU jump to the Big 12 that is some major cash. $20 without counting tier 3(WVU is working on tier 3 rights right now and its looking like it will be around $4 Million per year) and without a conference championship game. FSU/Clemson jump on board and we are looking at $28 Million to $30 Million from the added revenue of those two teams plus championship game plus tier 3.

Yeah Im with you, just telling the fellow Nole its not the end of the world if we stay in the ACC

Im just waiting for all this conference stuff to be over with, a playoff in place and bam... that is what I want

Don't care where FSU is so long as its one of the 4 super-conferences

Hopefully we arrive to this day before its two hand touch out there

Right - so ESPN got a great deal. They'll make more profit showing ACC games, so they'll promote the league.

With enough hype, ESPN can absolutely help rebuild ACC programs.

With Miami, FSU, UNC, Clemson, VaTech, GaTech, etc - there are alot of marketable programs.

Certainly with more appeal than most of the Big 12 schools. Miami vs FSU will be higher profile than Oklahoma State vs Baylor. There is plenty of talent in ACC country. ESPN will just help things along - and make boatloads of money doing it. All on the backs of 'Amateur' athletes.

OK, you guys can have "more appeal", and the Big 12 will take more money. Sounds fair.

Check out the FSU board. They are done with that basketball conference and Tobacco Road.

Really good job of taking the 2 most storied programs in the ACC over the past 30 yrs and comparing them to Ok St. and Bayor.

Ohio State vs. Michigan is more appealing than Rutgers vs. UCONN.

Did you really compare arguably the top rivalry in the ACC to maybe the 6th biggest rivalry in the Big 12? Come on, man.

Im with you rivver ( bad comparison ) but FSU/Miami is the top rivalry in the ACC

    Its not even arguable/debatable iyam

No, it isn't debatable. Texas/OU, FSU/Miami. That would have been a proper comparison, and while I think UT/OU get the nod in that battle, that isn't taking anything away from the FSU/UM rivalry.
