AJ McCarron

  • Coming into his Redshirt Jr year, does he develop into an elite level QB like a Matt Barkley, or stay as a game manager and ne the 4th best SEC.QB?? Bama lacks a truely elite reciever which will hurt him...

First off, AJ is not going to be a game manager.

Second, our WR corps will surprise people this year. Not too mention we have an NFL-ready TE.

  • Saban likes game managing QBs so my guess is he stays a game manager. Hell I wish LSU had a QB like AJ last year, but we got Mett Booty Grabben Mettenberger this year

I think that you'll see Saban let him fling it downfield more this year but the running game is always going to be our bread and butter.

  • Meh we always try to stay balanced.

That being said, because we'll have playmaking WRs, a great OL and great RB play, McCarron could get to 3000 yards and 25 TDs.

  • We will always try and stay balanced but AJ will go down as the best passer in Bama history.

    Bank on it.

Say what you will about our WR core but they are extremely underrated right now.

I see AJ having a better season than McElroy did in 2010

he'll 'manage' to do what he did in the bcs title game...except he won't be going up against a good defense every week. Although the 'honey' badger was exposed as a horrible cover corner...maybe the honey badger is a 'game' manager on defense.

how come methenburger didn't play last year?

What qualifies him as elite? What numbers does he need to our up? Let me tell you something........Matt Barkley wouldn't put up great numbers in our offense. AJ had very good numbers last year. Greg McElroy was labeled a game manager and now he's a backup in the NFL. That means he's one of the best 64 QBs in the world.

Mcelroy just became third string, hell if Stanton had wanted to stay he would be practice squad tackling dummy. By your logic he is still one of the best 96 or 128 QB's in the world. Thanks man, I needed a good laugh this morning... I owe you brother

how come methenburger didn't play last year?

How come Mettenberger nor Jarrett Lee played in the BCS Title game?

Les Miles proceeded to undo all of the goodwill he had done during the season to let fans know he wasn't a fool.

If you make an NFL roster and sign a multi-year deal, you're a great QB. I don't care how you slice it. Heath Shuler was an elite QB in the SEC because of the system he was in. He couldn't cut it in the NFL. McElroy will most likely be a career back up and he was heading towards being the solid #2 for the Jets before being injured. If you think you can make an NFL roster and not be elite at what you do then I'm not sure you're smart.

  • With what i believe well be the best ol in college, and what looks to be very sold wr corp, aj will have more years and attempts this year. The running game will be interesting. We don't have a guy who is the best in the country in the backfield. Lacy is good, but hasn't shown he is in the top 3 yet. If his turf toe surgery heals properly, he could be a monster. Fowler is a beast. He is like a d linemen carrying the ball. Bama is going to stay balanced, but aj is one of our leaders now, and has more room on his leash.

McElroy will most likely never be a solid #2... he is destined to be practice squad or work in the front office. No shame in either one of those. McElroy is a smart guy and that's what got him this far. If his skill set were close to matching his intelligence then he would be big time.

Lacy's Injury isn't coming along well fro what I've heard and the term "career threatning" was used. Not sure how reliable that info was but it's enough to be concerning. Fowler will be the main back IMO with a healthy dose of Yeldon and Hart added in.

I've heard Rex Ryan speak on GMacs talents and ability. I'll just agree to disagree with you and agree with an NFL coach.
