A&M/LSU/Bama guys

  • Whats the story on Derrick Griffin?

His AAU basketball team just finished up on ESPNU, and he was player of the gm. (his team has the two 5* guards, twins). Griffin really displayed how athletic he was, from catching backwards allys to straight up punching it.

But, when asked about his recruitment (football), he said he is committed to A&M, but its a soft commit, and that he was also looking at Bama, LSU, and Marquette. He also said, he's 75% football and 25% basketball, and that he only will focus more on basketball if he continues to grow.

I don't think I have heard of him

Ive heard of him, but I havent see too much news in his recruitment.

Kinda strange with him being the #3 wr and a top 50 overall player.

  • His grades, from what everyone's gathered, are nearly impossible to save. He's not even enrolled in summer schools and I'm pretty sure our coaches don't even consider him a commitment. One of those kids with all the talent in the world which will probably go to waste.

Kid looks super athletic. Well, I would wish you luck but I dont wanna see him and DGB in the conference, lol. Ive read that he is maybe the best wr in the state of Texas.

He lost me at Marquette though, lol.

He is the best WR in the state. Better than RSJ and Rhodes. Just not in the classroom. no

  • He's the best WR in the country but his grades are terrible. He started to back off his A&M commitment a while back and said he is looking at other schools. Commitments mean absolutely nothing anymore in recruiting

Our people are saying he is backing off his commitment because our coaches have basically dropped him. They haven't contacted him in awhile.

spot on. million dollar body, ten cent mind. he had a sliver of a chance if he would have taken summer classes, but he didn't even enroll.

  • Have never heard his name mentioned with LSU football. Doesn't mean the staff hasn't been in contact with him. With his rumored grade situation, I doubt we ever do see his name associated with LSU football. We're limited in spots left as it is and there's no positive in signing a nonqualifier with the limits these days. Huge talent.
