Has finalized contract with Tennessee
This source...well i dont put too much credence in it; A bit hesitant to let this fly, but what the hell -
Tennessee Hires Jon Gruden
I've just been told that the University of Tennessee has completed its negotiations, and that an agreement has been reached to name Jon Gruden as the next head coach of the University of Tennessee Volunteers.
It's done. And by "done" I mean LOI or MOU is being written, and either has been or will be signed in short order.
I have no idea as to the announcement of Dooley's "resignation" or of Gruden's acceptance, but I am now confident in saying that it is done.
The celebration can safely commence.
P.S. - This has also been confirmed by SpringbokVol on TOOS, so kudos to him for being the first to break the news of its finality.

Don't believe it for one second.
It would be awesome if it actually went down. I'd imagine Gruden would clean up on the recruiting trail early and turn Tennessee into a force in a few years IMO.

I thought Michigan was his "dream" job and Dave Brandon had a secret meeting with him in Arizona.
Every solid coaching job in the last 2 years has someone from the "inside" that says Gruden is going to be the coach.

Do you know what's crazy? If I remember correctly, Tenn would have to pay Dooler a total of 7 million or something crazy like that.. And 4 years left on his contract they would have to pay.... Da Frick did Tenn give him such a massive contract?
Anyways.. We hear this Gruden to "X" team 5 times a year..... But if this is true, Tenn is BACK, no doubt about that.

He's married to a former UT cheerleader that he met as a GA while at Tennessee iirc. His name always comes up, but there is that small tie in that he has with UT. I don't think this happening, but the rumors are going crazy. Dooley's buyout is 5 million. To buy out the rest of the assistants is another 4 million. That's 9 million in buyouts plus the rumor of more than 6 million a year just get Gruden here. The Haslams just put a bunch of money up for the Clevend Browns.... so who on the hell is going to write the check for this one?

Wasn't Gruden's biggest fault signing too many vets bc he couldn't or wouldn't develop young players? Don't see how that'll ever translate good to the college level.. He would clean up on the trail, though, if he had the want to.

Gruden would be my 1st choice for any college HC job. his extensive expierence on the recruiting trail places him atop any "must have" coaching lists.
i hear Auburn will ink Bill Cower while K-Tuck lures in Sean Payton
