Adams plans unofficials

Five-star prospect Montravius Adams has cancelled a weekend official visit to Michigan State. What's next for the nation's No. 1-rated defensive tackle?

  • I still think Auburn or Clemson here. Things could change, though.

  • Talked to 247 Sports' Keith Niebuhr earlier, he let me know the skinny on why Adams couldn't visit Michigan State this weekend.

Vienna (Ga.) Dooly County five-star defensive tackle Montravius Adams was schedule to officially visit Michigan State this weekend with his mom but had a change of plans yesterday. The reason behind Adams not making the visit is because he mom wouldn't be able to make the trip with him. In order for Adams to commit to any school his mom has visit the school and check off on it first. Adams' mother works at least two jobs and was unable to take work off to make the trip to East Lansing.

During Adams' sophomore season his mother wasn't able to make it to a single one of his games because she had to work. Last season Adams' mother was able to make it to a few games because of her busy work schedule. Michigan State is a school that Adams wants to take an official visit to, but until his mom can get a weekend off and Adams and Michigan State's schedules don't conflict, the visit won't happen.

The 6-foot-4, and 310-pounder believes in the Michigan State program because of the success former high school teammate Keith Mumphery is having in East Lansing. Mumphery and Adams are very tight and Adams really wanted to watch Mumphery play under the lights against Notre Dame.

I know for a fact that Adams really wanted to visit Michigan State and is going to give the Spartan football program a fair shake. Short-term this isn't the best news for Michigan State but the Spartans are till in the hunt in the long-term.
