Hartmann quotes primary sources in an article he recently wrote, but he's taking one small rationale for the second amendment and using a broad brush to paint it as the only reason for the second amendment.

If you used his logic; the idea of a republican government for every state -- which is stated in the constitution -- would also be to protect slavery.

Hell, using his logic; the revolutionary war was about slavery as well. See how easy this is?
