  • Well, he did introduce Michigan to revolutionary concepts like "tackling" and "being in position." He's quite the mastermind.

    No Heismans brought up?

    Michigan has 894 wins btw

You can't make the bowl game argument because Michigan has the most winning seasons ever, meaning they were bowl eligible, but didn't always go to bowl games.

Michigan also has 11 National Titles btw, not 3.

  • Who really cares about past...both programs have tremendous histories, but U of M has been god awful for the last 6 years. Big deal that they finished 10-2 this year. They have only beaten one ranked team in the last 3 years.

Shoelace is exciting to watch, but is way over-rated. Makes too many errors at critical times.

past 6 years? they were 11-2 in 2006 and 9-4 in 2007, not exactly god awful especially 2006 where they were undefeated going into the last game against Ohio State and got screwed out of the NC game

    1. Alabama has 813. I didnt use this year because it isnt complete yet.

    2. Heismans are all good and fine. Just not a team accomplishment.

    3. You cant read. Michigan has 3 AP/Coaches/BCS titles. (Which is why I only put 8 down for Alabama. We have 12 if you wanna pre date that.

To the other guy.......I am not trying to argue Alabama past>>>>>>>Michigan past. I'm just pointing out that depending on what stat you wanna use, Alabama, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, OU, and several other can argue they are the best. there is no "Clear" winner as the other homer implied.

yeah i can read but why use AP if it wasn't in use until 48?

Because that is what everyone that is a college football historian considers modern era. Again, I have no problem using all of them but everyone gives Alabama shit when we claim 12. No one can argue with just using AP/Coaches/BCS because every single university that has ever won those, claims them.

1936 is when the ap started. (well, technically it started in 34, but it skipped 35 and has been going since 36 continuously)

the coaches (originally called up poll or upi) didn't start until 1950.

    just an fyi.

true but didnt the AP start releasing an unofficial Post Bowl poll, scrap it then start doing it again in the 60's?

yeah sorry i didn't think it was in use because in 1947 Michigan literally won every poll outside the AP so i didn't think it was in use yet.

You guys have BBall players that play football too? Nice. Amazing blocks by him on the OLine. I've always said big athletic BBall players should play OL. How many years has Denard played on the OL? Does he have any left? Will he concentrate on football this year and try to get to the NFL?

    sort of.

in 47 they release an "unofficial" post bowl poll. didn't do so again until 65 (this time "official"), stopped again, and started back for good post bowl in 68.

the coaches did pre-bowl until 74.

    that was a goofy year.

    week before polls it was:
    #1 nd - 9-0
    #2 mich - 9-0
    #3 usc - 8-0-1

vote was almost split even between nd and mich.

mich destroys usc in rose bowl, but nd gained votes after not playing in a bowl.

mich got the 48 poll, though, when both were again undefeated. this time neither played in a bowl.

yeah i read a little but about that when i searched the 1947 season, Notre Dame shouldn't have naerly as many NCs as they claim IMO
