Al Golden to Tennessee is heating up in Knoxville....

I think everyone thought the talks were over because he was asking for too much (more than what Saban makes this coming year). Who knows at this point, it has been insane.

I hope y'all get a great coach, I've always loved Tennessee. You might hate me, but I don't think Gruden is the answer, I don't think he will do well in college ball. It very rarely translates to success.

I heard that the owner of the Browns was offering him a piece of the Browns to become the HC at UT. Sounded odd to me because you would think that Haslem would want him as coach at the Browns, but that was what was being reported.

Yeah, that whole story was out there. It is very hard to make fact of fiction lately. I just know that there has been smoke around for awhile, and it finally looks like there is fire.

Gruden would be AWESOME in college football IYAM. I certainly don't want to see it happen. Tennessee would automatically have top five recruiting classes without even having to work for it.

preciatecha I think he could definitely recruit the talent. His name alone would be enough to get some good skill position players to come in on this class. If he couldn't hire a staff to make up for his inefficiencies in the college game, then I would have a hard time understanding how he managed to win a Super Bowl, regardless of the players.

I just want to win again, dammit

Top five recruiting class doesn't equal success, you still have to coach. I like Gruden, but I thought the same thing about Sherman. I may be wrong, I just don't want to see Tennessee make another bad hire. We put up with that crap for ten years.

Are you actually saying that Gruden can't coach? Some of the best coaches in college and the pro's actually seek his counsel on breaking down film and schemes.

When did I say that? I'm saying that he doesn't have college experience. The college game is much different than the NFL, and so are the players.

The Vols have received word only a number of conspiracy theorists believe isnt true that Gruden is most likely signing with the Eagles. Many think that Strong is re-signing. Golden is apparently #3 for them and then they may go after Butch Jones of Cincinnati. Of course rumors are flying because the yocals are going nuts.

They either dont want to miss if they should or think Golden is elite because apparently its going to be an offer above 3/yr (like 3.2)

Vols win the east! Vols win the east!

    Nova,

Is there any truth coming from your guys end on the possibility of Jimbo Fisher leaving or is it all BS? At least to your knowledge.

To my knowledge he is happy as ever, is on the cusp of seeing his team come full circle and now would be the dumbest time ever to leave

Especially for the terrible jobs that are available right now

Neither Tennessee or Auburn compare to FSU to me, and him either for FSU is his dream job

Those 2 schools have some positives, but not enough to quit on FSU right when they have reached a level of talent you need to start winning championships ( conference and soon national..... hopefully )

FSU has also broke ground on a new indoor facility, something that was built per his request...... so these rumors of him being unhappy seem unjust as the school is clearly doing what it can it terms of the things he has been asking for

Stoops leaving was going to happen eventually, most knew that..... I don't see how its some meltdown of Jimbo's staff, and Im sure he fills the voids with capable people

Hell Im more excited for a new DC than another year of Stoops, and FSU's defensive talent pool is very deep at the moment.... should be attractive in terms of luring a new coach

Cool, just wanted to know from the perspective of the FSU fans because all I've heard Jimbo's name in regards to leaving has come out of AU fans mouths and it seemed odd to me honestly and that is an understatement.

Can't blame Stoops for leaving. If you can go from a DC position to a HC position in a power conference then it's worth the risk. He'll never win big at UK, but if he pulls a James Franklin type scenario out for them, he'll be a hot commodity for any HC position.

Anybody who has ever followed Tampa football will tell you Gruden either could not or refused to develop young talent and preferred to go out and sign vets. Can't do that in CFB. I think Gruden would fail trying to coach college football and he knows it so he won't.

To add on Gruden is a workaholic. No way he would be able to handle working with these kids on a limited basis because of NCAA rules. He is making BANK in the booth. He will take the right NFL job if it falls in his lap.

lol at any Auburn fans or Tennessee fans who even want Jimbo. Let him stay at FSU and continue to get crushed by Muschamp and lose to North Carolina State and Wake Forest, because I have a feeling that is exactly what is going to happen

LMAO. Dude- he wanted to get younger at key positions but the ownership, in 2004, two years after Super Bowl win- the Bucs' fortunes faded, as they spent far less on player salaries than allowed under the NFL's salary cap. Don't make it out that it was Gruden's fault they kept washed up/conservative Brad Johnson and got Joey Galloway as a F/A and kept Brooks at middle linebacker when he was at the end of his career.

Agreed on that. NO coach is stupid enough to turn down double salary, better facilities, higher coaching salaries, better conference, etc........ That is unless he is a Tard or he is waiting for his Dream Job( ie Penn State).

SOLE reason Golden would stay is fear of the "Bobby Petrino" stigma but the impending sanctions would give him the out he needs. Tennessee is a job he could be at for 10 years if he makes it work,
