Alabama becoming an NFL draft factory

  • "Playing for the Tide is good for a half-round bump for other draft-eligible players. People love the fact they’re coached up so well, basically pro coaching and they’re so much more prepared for what the NFL is going to have to offer.”
    - Mel Kiper

“Coach Saban certainly knows what it takes at that level, and he’s demanding of them physically. He’s demanding of them mentally. I think all of those things, combined with that talent base, is why those guys have had so much success on draft day and go on to have success in the NFL. They’re not going to settle for anything less than perfection over there, which is a great training ground for getting ready for the next level.”
    - Pat Dye, Jr.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Alabama is becoming the kind of NFL draft factory that the Miami Hurricanes were a decade ago.

Not fair. You had the Nick Saban head start long ago. We've only had him 5 years.

There's no denying that USC has been putting more players in the league than anybody else for a long time. Year in, year out, USC has one of, if not the most talented teams in the country (of course, it takes more than just talent to win it all...).

The point of the article is that Alabama has equaled and may surpass the standard set by USC and Miami in terms of the rate at which it puts players into the league.

  • Jesus, what's the big deal? Alabama is killing it in NFL quality players.

Are you guys objecting really all that insecure?

It's definitely good to see one of the old guard killing it.

Get this one going as well....

No doubt. This year, LSU is arguably going to have the most talented team in the country for the 4th time in 7 years. How do you explain only one national championship over that period with all of that talent?

Surprised you haven't learn this yet, most bama fans are very insecure. Just look at the topics they start

Pride and insecurity are too different things. Alabama has been one of the giants of CFB for to long of a period to have any insecurities. I'm sure they are like us...they knew they would be back, too much tradition.

That said, I love watching LSU as well. Quit acting like girls, lol.

Lies Alabama is. They have 5 straight number one classes, top 3 in everything, and the best every year since Saban took over. LSU is a has been and will always suck. Get your facts right

But thanks for tryen to be nice

  • Alabama and many SEC schools didn't have African American players until ~40 years ago in the early 1970s. Many of the eventual NFL guys that would have gone to Bama went to Grambling, Jackson St and other HBCUs and some went to other regions of the country to play.

A family friend (of the older members of my family born before 1960) happened to be one of the 1st African American players at Bama...... Wilbur Jackson. He happened to be a 1st Round Pick (#9 overall) in 1974.

Perhaps a total post integration would be more telling.

Jabrill Peppers...More I watch, the more I'm convinced he is the best player in the 2014 class. Barring injury, he will do special things.

NFL teams pick players based upon need and talent/character, not on what a player's uniform looked like in college. To assert anything else is silly and unprofessional. If Saban's coaching and player development skills are so superior, I'm sure another NFL gig awaits him with open arms and wallet.
