I'm guesing you didn't actually attend Notre Dame. lol at not knowing the definition of consensus.

Consensus doesn't mean unanimous for CFB titles. It's weird but it is and has been the case.

And for other things too, that's why there are phrases like " general consensus" .

The defintion for CFB titles was already stated. In it's correct use it's only 1950-

Well 1973, they weren't under that defintion and 1930 they just like to throw it around because they had more of those retroactive people than we did.

    1973 is an interesting year.

There were four undefeated teams: ND, OSU, Michigan and Oklahoma.

Michigan and OSU tied each other. Oklahoma tied USC (Ohio State crushed USC in the Rose Bowl).

    ND finished undefeated and untied.

Bama making any claim to '73 is a complete joke.

But they do and any team can claim whatever they want. When the media guide jumps up 5 extra in one year, crazy stuff

USC added a national title from 1939.......in 2004.

They did get more selectors in 73 than we did. As well as 1930 albeit most retroactively. Point is, its not a bad way to determine which titles to claim. If we did it we would claim 10, still the second most, and would probably not catch near the crap we do. Titles don't mean much if you are the only one that recognizes then for the most part.

Bedides we would tie them at 11 consensus titles this year anyway.

Well said, my wife is a bama/irish fan. I am a auburn/irish fan. I look forward to a great game of defense. Truth is it is only about this year and then we move one to next year. The rest is all about t-shirts sales.
