Guy has built a career off of Brady's success. Funny thing is Brady got loads better once Weis left.

Yeah there were quite a few that felt the same way you did.

I thought, for recruiting purposes/offensive strategy, UF was gonna be decent, lol.

I always knew it wouldnt last long either way though.

I love the Tim Davis hire though.

    Daddy is an MD.

I'm in the same boat, he's really fast in a straight line but I was not blown away by the tape at all. Actually thought he was better on offense. I've heard he is a serious student, you'd think PSU(with Schreyer Honors College and his brother) and Stanford would be appealing, but UF is not bad either.

Just can not get over the decommit. Absolutely hilarious. There is some creepy people out there.

  • Anzalone has 30+ offers. Two of his first big offers were Bama and UF as a LB. He fits the OLB position in our defense perfectly. While we have four LB's commited, Lawson is the one that could/should grow into a DE. He's also the only one not highly thought of (Only non 250 of the four) and seems the least solid. Anzalone is a great student, good character, and he can play DE/OLB/BUck/Hback/TE.. Notre Dame is recruiting him as a RB. I just don't see any downside to taking a talented, good character hard working kid who is likely to work out at one of those positions. Questions or no questions, he's one of the most highly sought after recruits out there.

The issue with PSU is that he may not get into Schreyers (which has Ivy league standards for admission). Florida has told him that he can get into their honors program and Stanford is Stanford, which is why I think both of those schools have an edge on the educational side of things.

And let me say, I played in the same league as Anzalone... it's terrible competition. I was not a good player at all, but I started my Jr year against Wyo at LB at 145 lbs sick... and we won. AA should be dominating that league, and he isn't. He is bigger than almost everyone he lines up against (including linemen) yet only had 54 tackles last year. He looks raw on defense and has poor tackling technique. With that said, I agree with you, I think he would be a really good H-Back on offense.

The other thing about this kid that makes him very appealing is the fact that he has a big upside with little to no downside. There is not a lot of risk when you have a big athletic kid who is very intelligent and comes from a good up bringing. His family has no money issues so he doesn't need to take money from boosters.

Let's face it... there are some kids that might be more elite athletically or more polished football players that have been competing against real competition, but they might not be as well rounded as him. They might not pick up the schemes as quickly as this kid. Increased football IQ means playing faster on the field. A lot of coaches that recruit the elite athletes in the country year in and year out are after this kid in a major way. I would trust their judgement.

Luke Kuechly was the first LB taken in the draft. There were better athletes available, but probably not more intelligent or better leaders. It's not always all about 40 times.

Kuechly showed up to the combine and dispelled any myth that he wasn't an elite athlete. Look at his performancehttp://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/combine?id=28618&_slug_=luke-kuechly&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnfl%2fdraft%2fplayer%2fcombine%3fid%3d28618%26_slug_%3dluke-kuechly , he was at or near the very top in every single event and was overall probably the most impressive LB there athletically.

You are right. For some reason I thought he ran a 4.68 40. The kid from Cal may have been slightly more athletic, but Kuechly was very impressive. My point was more-so about Kuechly's intelligence. He is a very intelligent and instinctual player. A lot of times that makes up for slightly less impressive 40 times, etc. Bad example.

I don't think that Anzalone is as gifted along those lines as Kuechly, but much like the draft he is a no risk, high reward pick... Hence his offer list.

Actually, I think the risk in Anzalone is that I would question his instincts if he only had 50ish tackles in the Berks IC-2. Maybe he is too smart and overthinks things? Either way, he should be closer to 100 tackles in that league.

Yeah I agree, his numbers don't jump out and aren't that great. He looks like a good player though but not the best.

No, it's not. Did you see the quotes from Alex? This was just a convenient excuse to decommit. He was at UF on Wednesday and Thursday, decommited Friday. It may have played a small part in it, but his commit was shakey from the start. The commit actually broke from some other guy on twitter. Alex didn't really talk much about it the entire time he was commited. Kid just rushed into a decision, saw UF again and realized that he wants to look at other options. It happens.
