Alright, so here we are again(boxing).

  • Mayweather won an entertaining fight. Cotto had some nice rounds, landed some nice shots, but of course Mayweather was too much for him.

Pac fights in June. Boxing is the most corrupt sport in the world since its pretty much an asylum run by the inmates. This means that Pac is going to win in June unless he gets knocked out because there is no way in hell Boxing is giving up on that payday.

Does the fight get scheduled? Both sides have come to terms on everything except the purse split. I think we will finally get the fight.

  • Its gotta end up happening for monetary reason imo. But as far as your "corrupt sport" part, does anyone else think Mayweather is in bed with the promoters. I really think he gets kickbacks for letting the fights go 12. He is that good. I have watched most his fights and it looks like he dials it backs when he could press and get a KO

3rdAnd57.com Only took me 4 days to get contacted by Ole Miss athletic department. I'd say I won the day

Mayweather is really not a knockout fighter. He is a defensive fighter.

I tend to kinda agree as he seems head & shoulders above everyone I've seen him fight. Real talk though....Cotto is tough as **** but Floyd could have taken him out in the 11th or 12th. His skills are NASTY.

Style is becoming more offensive though as he ages.

He is a tomato can compared to the all time greats. I was shocked after watching him tonight after all the buildup I have heard on him for years. It is entertaining to me now knowing that people think he is one of the best ever.

What weight class did he fight as tonight? I didn't get to see this fight. I don't follow much boxing anymore.

thats gonna be another excuse for them to not fight. Mayweather is going to want a long time to train after being in jail for 3 months.

You're making your claims after only watching one fight.

He's had 42 others previous to this one.

If people only watched MJ hooping with the Wizards, they wouldnt call him the goat either.

I can buy that. Is Mayweather in his "Jordan's Wizards " stage?

    Not quite.

  • Floyd just got paid 40 mill plus to fight Cotto. Manny should just realize Mayweather holds all leverage.

His first fight was like 1996-97, iirc.

Im not saying he's the best, but he will go down as one the goats.

He's been fighting this long, and nobody has caught him slipping yet.

One of the most technically sound fighters ever.

No. He's getting there, but he isn't there yet. I do not put Mayweather with the likes of Sugar Ray Robinson, Oscar De La Hoya, Ali, Tyson, Rocky Marciano, and a few of the other greats that I consider the "GOAT". A lot of people do put him in that category, though.

Mayweather has counter-punching down to perfection, I will give him that.

Yeah I just can't put him with those greats mostly because he hasn't fought the other greats of his era.

Glad the NFL scouts didn't assess Trent Richardson only on his 13 carries 37 yards performance against Kent St to open the 2011 season.

With that said he just took a unanimous decision from a Future Hall of Famer. That's like the Bulls beating the Jazz 4-2 in the NBA Finals in 1997. You are not a scrub because you didn't dominate an elite opponent.

I love Tyson, but if he's in there then Floyd is in there.

Boxing is on life-support, so Floyd is pumped up a bit much. Maybe even overrated a little.

But, he doesnt get hit, and like you said he's the ultimate counter puncher.

He wouldve had some losses if he were in it 20 yrs ago. But, he would have had some great wins as well.

  • Good article comparing Mayweather to the all-time greats.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. measures up with boxing's greats - ESPN

Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn't shy about telling anyone who will listen that he's boxing's best ever. To the chagrin of Pretty Boy haters, at least one statistical measure would seem to back his claim.

Well, I know for a fact that a "false sense of nostalgia" permeates a bunch of thinking when it comes to many a thought process. There is no way to prove it but Mayweather is not in the same class as the boxers from yesteryear if this is his prime. I watched them and was an enthusiast of the sport. The false conviction of Tyson and Don King's antics soured me on the sport. I haven't kept up since D'Amatto died. Everyone, of course, is entitled to their opinion but I honestly don't think this guy should be mentioned with Sugar Ray Leonard & co. They made the sport larger than life for reasons other than opportunist promoters. They could flat out fight.

You just said you do not watch boxing anymore.
