Ambien

  • A relative of mine tripped balls on Ambien & threatened to kill his wife & kids. They called my old man & he went over & beat the sh!t out of him at like 3 am. True story.

  • Melatonin works for me.

I have never taken ambien but my neighbor did and he used to wake up and bang on my door, scream things, etc. It was creepy as shit.

I used to take Advil pm. I'd wake up in the middle of the night and wouldn't be able to find the door. Everything but melatonin really f*cked with me

  • I started taking Ambien in 1993/1994 when it was still in initial testing and was still a number instead of a brand name of Ambien. Ambien will make you do things, incredible things, that you have no idea you have done. Numerous times id wake up and wonder why my computer had all these "new" security features and "new" passwords all over the place. There were also several times id wake up in the floor after taking Ambien and trying to fight the onset of the drug. Now I am able to take 2 to 4 10mg a night and it not work. it was a great drug while it worked for me. It really works good when you first start taking it.

In the initial study we were told to be sitting on the edge of the bed with a glass of water and the white pill and to swallow the pill with the water and immediately lay down. That it was a very fast acting drug and we should take it while actually sitting on the bed ready to get into bed. It wasnt till I found myself passed out in the floor on the way to bed did i realize how strong it actually was. At that time I was newly married and my new wife thought i had died till she realized what had happened. She couldnt get me back to bed so she brought out a pillow for me to lay my head on till i woke up plus blanket.

If your new to ambien, be very careful with it. after a month or so on it, you start wanting to beat the sleep it brings. This is when you start to do things you will not remember at all.

And as an attorney let me say that the number of people driving around on ambien is unbelievable. Get caught driving on Ambien and its an instant DUI. But the good things is that if they do pick you up, you more than likely wont remember the actual arrest and jail time because the ambien will keep you in a dream like state for a solid 5 to 8 hours.

  • You need to get off of the stuff Bama. It has proven to do terrible things to the liver, and the other side effects are not pleasant.

  • That ish is crazy mane. I took Ambien once and i'll never take it again. In the thirty minutes or so it took me to go to sleep I felt weird as hell. I took psychs probably 8 or 10 times in college and never once felt anywhere near as weird as I did on Ambien. I'll never take it again. Lunesta is a good one as far as prescription goes, but Tylenol/Advil PM or Benadryl has always been good enough for me.

Wow thanks I hadn't heard that. I had been off of Ambien for 6 months until about about 3 weeks ago. Doesn't matter what I take I don't sleep well. I sleep hard after a few beers but still wake up feeling like I've not slept. It sucks!

My ex swears I use to have conversations with her after taking Ambien and I honest to God do not remember any of it. shrug

  • i'm 40 and struggled with insomnia until about age 35 when i discovered the wonders of xanax.

you people need to get off ambien ASAP. i would take xanax every night but my doctor won't prescribe me enough.

if you ambieners have tried the simple over the counter sleep aid whose main ingredient is the anti-histimene in motrin/tylenol PM. tylenol PM never used to work for me either. i think it works better w/o the tylenol(acetomeiphen).

but again, xanax is the absolute best. knocks you out with no side effects.

but that's just me and i assume that different drugs affect different people in different ways.

my life has changed so much for the better after my fine-tuning discovery

  • I take a 10 mg on Sundays a 5m on Mondays and nothing the rest of the week. If you take every night it gets weaker and weaker an that's when it messes you up trying to overload

i just read up on restoril. sounds similar to xanax. i actually take alprazolam, which is a generic variety of xanax

Be very, very careful with Ambien. I took it for three years and slowly weaned myself off of it. It saved my sanity, but I followed directions exactly, took it only when I had the hours to devote to a full seven - eight hours sleep - oh, and I don't drink alcohol. DO NOT DRINK WHILE TAKING THIS DRUG! Now, I only take an occasional natural sleep aid, MidNight.

Again, please be careful. Junior Seau had a life long problem with insomnia, was taking them at the time of his death, but still drank alcohol and did not devote himself to following directions exactly.

He committed suicide....and it shocked everyone who knew him.

  • There's many new sleep meds available to meet your needs. Ask your doctor to step up his game. Ambien was popular ten years ago. Its half-live is too long which makes patients very "groggy" the next morning. I like Sonata myself, fast acting and short half-live. I can take it at 2 a.m. and function normally the following day.
