Because it will be. LSU/UA/USCe/UGA are all 10-win capable teams. UT/UF/Arky/AU/Mizzou are all 8-9 capable teams. aTm/MSU are bowl eligible teams and UK and Ole miss are "ok,probably 4-5 win teams".

It's simple math that one team's one has to result in a loss for another team.

Last year Alabama/LSU/Arkansas/UGA/USCe were all 10 win teams and yet there was a team with zero losses and a team with one loss when the years was done.

    funny, cause in '10:

arky, bama, au and lsu were 10-win teams.

msu, uf and usc were 8-9 win teams.

uga, kentucky and tenn were bowl teams.

and om was a 4 win team.

2010 was actually a pretty stout year for the sec.

so was last year, when there were 5 10-win teams (bama, lsu, arky, usc, uga), another 4 bowls teams (au, uf, msu and vandy), and 2 more 5-win ok teams (tenn and uk).

09 also had 2 12+ win teams, 5 more 8-9 win teams, 10 bowl teams, plus 5-win msu.

    08 - somewhat of a down year, when you had 3 10-win, "only" 8 bowl, and 3 5-win teams.

what you posted seems like a run of the mill year for the sec recently.

  • Can't speak for Bama but as far as LSU goes, only 1 team played us within double digits and that was Bama, including OOC games against Oregon and WVU. None of the SEC schools have gotten so much better that they are erasing that double digit difference. Does that mean we can't lose, no, but it means that saying we can't go through the season unbeaten is asanine. Teams still have to be able to take the constant pounding of 5 backs and a huge, powerful OL for 4 quarters. Our defense lost Claiborne, Brockers and Taylor , now Mathieu. Their replacements are as talented as they were, though early some of that lack of seasoning will show. Good thing we have nothing but cupcakes and Washington to start the season. Come SEC time, we'll be quite salty.

Don't forget our D-line. And we still have two studs in Simon and Reid in the backefield. LSU is loaded and so is bama, but to say neither will even contend is ludicrous.

Alabama and LSU aren't as good as our fanbases think and the conference is just too good from top-to-bottom. Kentucky and Miss State are about the same. Ole Miss will be better as will Florida,Tennessee and the Barn. Missouri will surprise and aTm is alright. Arkansas will be not as good, but still solid and LSU,Alabama,UGA,and USCe are just going to beat themselves up. There are going to be a bunch of upsets. The champion probably will have two losses at least.

It will be easy for a Big 12 team to go undefeated as should FSU with their schedule. Now that the B1G and PAC12 have championship games, a one-loss team could sneak in with a solid CCG win.

Just don't see it this year guys. The streak will end.

When I first seen this I thought this must be someone just trying to stir up the SEC guys but you may be right, for the BCS format the SEC as it stands now is not the greatest setup (tho there are still a few teams that are good enough teams to run the gauntlet) but for the new system thats coming it is set up great with the ccg sos ect.. that will play a bigger factor. Maybe we see a Big12/BigEast NC game this year since neither have to worry with the ccg?shrug

  • I say Bama plays LSU for the title again this year. Let the haters hate, but it is only because there are no other contenders that makes this possible .

Bama beat every team they played by double digits last year, BTW.

How can you possibly think Claiborne's replacement is as talented as he is,,, guy won 2 Thorpes .

Obviously an idiotic statement, but Mo also only won 1. Of course everyone said the same abot Mo when he replace PP and I thought Mo was better or at least as good.

Just don't see it this year guys. The streak will end.

Oklahoma has issues: Landry Jones was a liability not an asset late in the season, they even pulled him from the game in the red zone to avoid costly INT's (he threw 15 last year). They don't have a healthy proven RB or WR's, remember, Oklahoma was dreadful when Broyles was injured.

FSU: Beat one team (N.C. State) who finished the regular season over .500 in 2011. However, I understand the love affair the rest of the country seems to have with them, the defense will likely be best in the country, statistically, and offense should be improved. If N.C. State and Va. Tech can keep those games close going into the 4th quarter they should have a chance to win, especially if injury prone EJ Manuel gets sidelined.

USC: Will not have the gas to run the table, just not deep enough, and they play Oregon late in the schedule (Nov. 3).

This could certainly be a year where there are 5-6 one loss teams in the top 10.

  • Heard from a little birdy that not a single analyst on Saturday morning's College Gameday Preview has an SEC team in the national championship game.

Now. Who here thinks ESPN is doing this on purpose?
