Andy Reid to the Chiefs?

  • If Andy made us suffer through a string of horrendous DC hires, he better not get it right at wherever he ends up next year. He was terrible at it the past 3 years with 3 terrible DC hires. He promotes from within because he's overly loyal and doesn't understand that side of the field.

    Side note, Andy is a great guy. He's not great with the media, but in general, everything I've ever heard about him off the field has been terrific.

  • Looking at a cbssports mock draft that was updated today after the Andy Reid news, one of the analysts have the Chiefs taking Luke Joeckel and Geno dropping to the Eagles at 4. While that is a great pick.... That doesn't fix the huge hole at QB. Another cbs analyst still has them taking Geno.

    That doesn't make sense to me. A new coach would want his new QB.....either through the draft or through free agency. Not sure how many other QBs will be available this season other than Tebow, Flynn, Smith, or maybe McCoy. None of those sound too appealing at moment. Alex Smith could be a guy to go after I suppose. Kind of was thinking he could be a guy that the Eagles or Jets might go after as well.

    Alex Smith would be OK, IMO. He was having a good year before the injury. Flynn...no way. Guy got that contract after one game at the end of last season and got beat out in the preseason by an unheralded rookie.

    Next step would be to resign Dwayne Bowe, and maybe pick up DeAndre Hopkins in the 2nd round of the draft to get another big target opposite of Bowe.

    Chiefs could be really good here really soon, IMO.

  • Take Joeckel at 1 and take Murray, Bray, Barkley, or whoever is there in the 2nd round. There isn't that big of a gap from Smith to whoever you could get at 32.

    Yeah , I was thinking this was the way to go before the Reid talk but he likes mobile Qb's .

    I think Murray is suspect due to height. I know there are others that have been successful, but he gets a lot of balls batted down even in the college game. If my team had a QB need and he was there mid to late 2nd round, I would take him though. Just not sure if he is a guy you draft without having a proven veteran as an option as well.

    If you are taking Joeckel, there is probably someone that would trade up to make sure they get Geno, IMO and you could get a lot more for the pick. I am not a huge expert on KC, but they were only 12th in sacks allowed so I am not sure if LT is a huge position of need.

    Wilson is definitely more of a runner, but Geno is definitely more mobile than Barkley. Geno is a tuck it to get a first down when needed guy, not a guy to take off as part of a plan.

    Where in that post did I say anything about Smith. Reid's obvious preference is to have a mobile qb, which is why after it's all said and done I still think we take a Ot or a Dt.

    No. He will take a QB. He took McNabb over Ricky Williams. He suffered through BS QBs once McNabb got old. This is a no brainer.

    He might, and use the pick on a lineman. Draft one in a later round or next year. I need to see how much is left on Cassell's contract, this maybe the reason..

    But their offensive line isn't really a weakness. They lacked a coach(got one) and a QB(haven't gotten one). He tries to win next season with Cassell or Quinn he is going to be in for a very long year.

  • Figured it was about to go down once Pioli left. I understand that Reid probably wouldn't allow him to stay but thought Pioli did a pretty good job at meeting our needs. Just never could get a good hire and a QB.
