How many more have to die........ Till something is done

I just honestly don't know what CAN be done sadly. At least not without turning this country into East Germany in the Cold War Era. I have honestly been back and forth with every possibility that I can think of and I can't come up with any logical solution.

I mean in this day and age, there are to many options at a nutjobs disposal to keep him from pulling a stunt like this. Especially if he's so determined to pull it off that he knows he's going to kill himself at the end of it. It just seems like more people aren't satisfied with taking their own miserable asses out anymore. They seem to think they have to take innocent people with them.

Exactly. Guns, bombs, knives, whatever. Hell, bombs are likely the most lethal because of how big you can make the blast.

In a country with 311,000,000 people, we are bound to have more issues than say, an Australia with only 22,000,000.

I haven't read but like two of your posts bitching about gun control. I don't even know what you are suggesting. I'm saying that no matter what you are suggesting, it's not going to work.

You can't stop a psychopath with intentions on committing a mass murder/suicide from getting what he needs to accomplish the task. If he is crazy enough, and determined enough, to walk in a room and shoot a bunch of innocent people and turn the gun on himself, then he is going to find what he needs regardless of what regulations you are recommending.

So let me understand how my idiotic rant is any less idiotic than your idea on how to stop a nutjob from walking into a room and committing a mass murder/suicide. I think my "idiotic" rant is more logical than anything than you could come up with. I was going overboard to prove a point.

Let's be clear: the idea that our country would be invaded because we adopt some common sense gun laws is so mindbogglingly stupid that calling it 'idiotic' is exceedingly kind.

Other countries have had extremely permissive gun laws like the United States. They had mass shootings. They made the most dangerous weapons illegal. Mass shootings stopped.

There will always be psychopaths. That doesn't mean we should allow it to be easy for them to acquire AR-15s.

Taking guns away doesn't get rid of the sociopaths who are determined to kill people. It doesn't even make it harder, just changes how they will do it.

the issue isn't guns, the issue is crazy people.

"you psychos"? What sentence did you read? Because it wasn't the one I wrote.

The point is, it doesn't matter what anyone does. It doesn't matter if there is "gun control".

You are taking guns from law abiding citizens that have done nothing to deserve the ruling. Now, after taking the guns away from those people, the only people that will regularly have the guns that you are "controlling" will be the psychos doing things like we have seen this past week.

Tell me how any of this makes sense? BTW, I don't even own a gun. I do plan on getting an AR-15 soon, though.

An "ar-15" is a .223 round. I urge you to research what a .223 round is. The projectile is the SAME as a .22, just carries higher velocity.

I still find it extremely ironic that everyone is crying over a glorified .22 rifle, but not a single peep about the fact that your average joe can legally own a fully automatic tommy gun. Media > gun control advocates brains.

The USA has about 13.7 times the population of Australia, a country where some guns (including pistols .38 caliber and less) can be obtained legally, and as recently as 15 years ago semi-automatic rifles were legal to own. You might expect us to have 13.7 times as many gun homicides.

But we have over 300 times as many gun homicides. There are a lot of reasons for this unrelated to gun control. But the attitude that violence is just going to happen no matter what is not constructive. People in other developed nations don't have to fear death like Americans do.

Said the same in one of these threads earlier in the week. I was apprehensive about AR-15s until I educated myself on them and even shot one a few times. I don't own any guns and don't plan to.

If they were just called .223s like most other rifles are called by their caliber of round instead of assault rifles, nobody would know enough to care.

As far as making guns illegal is concerned, I've never shot a hand gun before in my life...but I've unloaded a clip on a fully auto M5, which isn't even legal.

I guess that you missed the "I was going overboard to prove a point" part of my statement. I'm saying that common sense gun laws won't stop a fvcking thing in cases like this. I was saying that it makes about as much sense as throwing every gun that is owned in this country in the ocean.

Neither make any fvcking sense in a logical way of stopping a nutjob from finding a way to do what he's obviously bound and set on accomplishing.

Because they just banned them the guns were already their. The government needs to go to each dwelling and round every single firearm up

yep because surely they will get them all, and that won't throw our country into a revolutionary war or anything. Get real. On a side note, thanks for proving that your opinion can be completely discredited from here on out.

The second amendment was put in place to defend things exactly like the notion you just provided.

I read only most of your link because it was a long read, but although the writer takes the viewpoint that there shouldn't be gun bans, he brings to light a little-known point:

The past gun ban didn't really ban a lot of guns. The criteria for a "banned gun" was based mostly on cosmetic bullshit. It banned rifles with pistol grips, bayonet mounts, a flash suppressor, a folding stock. It also only applied to guns manufactured after the date the ban was passed, so not only could you own your old weapon, you could still buy or sell one legally. The AR-15 was banned, not because of its capacity to kill, but because of its pistol grip. It was nonsensical, bullshit legislation that did little but make our most dangerous weapons somewhat more expensive. Hundreds of thousands of AR-15s alone were legally bought and sold during the ban.
