Who said anything about drills? This is a good start to putting together a balanced staff, and fortunately Gus will stay the hell out of the way with the defense, so I think these guys will help our team be productive. Johnson bombed as a head coach, but he is proven as a DC. Garner is a great recruiter and better coach, also very experienced. Point is I like all three of the defensive hires.

To be fair BVG is a great coach. Auburn is just middle to back of the pack talent right now. Not sure I really thoughtg it was possible, but they were the least talented team in the West and maybe only more talented than Kentucky. It wasn't just poor coaching.....although it was bad.

5-star DT Montravius Adams from Dooly County in Vienna, Ga., said Auburn hiring Rodney Garner makes a big difference in his recruitment and he'll probably visit Auburn now. He said he is close to Garner and he's a coach he could see himself playing for 3-4 years. He was a little surprised by the news and hadn't totally processed it but I'll have a complete story up in about 30 minutes.

what reactions? let's see it on the field. as mentioned above, y'all thought bvg was the second coming of (name a great dc)...and he led the worst defense in hte history of the sec last year.
here's what i see from au the last 5 years...
5-7, 8-5, cam, 8-5, 3-9...and that doesn't begin to tell 1/2 the story...most of the losses were double digits and many were 25+.
wretched tackling, players quitting during the games, miserable...add the off the field mess and you have a dumpster fire that gus has to fix. gonna take time to turn the mess around. Why So Serious?
