Any Pit Bull fans around here?

  • I'm about to go pick up a little, actually should say put my claim on, puppy with a good bloodline. It's only 2.5 weeks old right now so I'm going to leave it with it's mother for a few more weeks. I don't know much about Red Boy or Chinaman bloodlines but it's coming with papers and three generations on the pedigree. I will put up pics of the pup here in an hour or so. Anyone know much about those two bloodlines?

I'm more familiar with Mayfield, Tudor, Jeep, Honeycomb, Eli, Colby, Mastadon, boudreaux, Apache, Chevy and Razor's Edge bloodlines

I was actually honest on this question and not sure why this was a particular topic that made you want to make a joke, especially a shitty one.

  • I hate pit bulls. I've been bitten by 6 of them completely unprovoked while hiking minding my business. One of them I had to kill with my hiking poll since it attacked one of my friends. I was able to video record the incident on my iphone before I killed the dog. After this incident, I also had to stab and nearly kill a pit mix that attacked me while I was asleep in a hammock at night. I love dogs but every pit bull should be put down.

I disagree but I love the breed. The problem is that a lot of people own them that should never own them. They are great dogs but they take work.

I'm not trying to start a big argument because I know a lot of people think the same way that you do. They take work but they are awesome dogs in the right hands.

Never owned one, nor known anyone who has, but they seem cool, especially when you and Barn talk about them.

If you know how to train them, they really are about as good a dog as you can get. I'm not going to lie and say that they don't take work to train though. Mine still give me hell but they are sweet as a button.

  • They are OK dogs. Not great, not terrible. Nothing compared to a lab. Better than a poodle.

I've never had a Lab. I know that some of my buddies swear by them and I get along with them as well. Actually have a real good buddy with a HUGE chocolate lab (I would say 135 lbs) but he is just a fat gigantic piece of lard.

You should see him hunt ducks though. Put one in the water and you would think his fat a$$ was a 25 lb dog.

My biggest things are looks and mind sets. Labs are perfect. I think Pits are ugly. I have a lot of experience with them. Most good, some bad. I have even more experience with labs and I've yet to meet a mean spirited lab. And they are the most beautiful dogs. I have a 10 year yellow lab. Males are more affectionate so that is what we go for. Females are a but more independent.

I don't get on people that think that pits are ugly or don't like their dispositions man. I mean honestly, I always go by the different strokes for different folks type of thinking.

Hell people out there swear by ankle biters and lapdogs but that just isn't me. I would say that my top two breeds would be pits and bloodhounds but I think Labs are great dogs from what I have seen as well. Actually some other breeds that I love are Irish Setters, Brittany Spaniels, Rhodesian Rhidgebacks, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Great Pyrenees and Malamutes. It's all up to how much work you want to put into them but Pit's just became my favorite breed over the years.

    This.

My dad always raised Pit bulls when I was growing up, and they truly are awesome dogs. With the right kind of training, you couldn't ask for a better dog.

Are they always aggressive towards other dogs? From my experiences, they have always been good with people. But you always had to keep a close eye on them if other dogs were around

Bernese Mountain Dogs are so cool. Look like bears. If I move to a more temperate climate and have a decent sized property I would get one. Too hot down here in FL for one of those

You really need to socialize them from the age of six weeks on with other dogs. You would be right in that assumption, BUT if you raise them from puppies and take them to dog parks and let them run around with other dogs from birth, it really isn't an issue. That is at least my experience with them.

Why I actually picked my girl Aspen from her litter. Tell me if this doesn't look like a Bernese Mountain Dog's markings?

  • My nephew has a pit. This is his second one. I've not been a big fan of them but the two he's owned have never did anything violent. Just a big pet. Very playful. He's raised this one from 8 weeks old. They all aren't the same.

Like RATT said, you just got to socialize them with other dogs at a young age.

How the hell do you to get them to stop digging! Mine keeps digging holes under the fence to play with the neighbor dogs.
