That would be considered a "Dry Drunk" In all seriousness though...I stopped on Feb. 2nd 2009, and it has been great!! It's tough for the first month, but even tougher if you are left to your own devices. I don't miss it one bit. Good luck if you are serious about it though. Prayers are sent your way brother!

Interesting. I am probably by definition a dry drunk. I have not been drunk since I got in trouble in 1999, but I still drink in work events and social settings with my wife, but in the back if my mind feel I am one bad situation away from going crazy. I had to totally change my friends and social circle. Having a family is what keeps my on the straight and narrow but that fear lingers. Just one man's experience.

D
I had to quit the hard stuff man. It was taking me over the edge. Now, i just have some beer here and there. maybe a Vodka drink to have something different.I can tell you this - life is better too. I believe i was an alcoholic - during that time, I didn't think so. But i analyze what i was doing almost every night after work, just to "relax". that's how i told myself it was ok. One, would lead to two, then three, next thing you know man, i'm getting up on a freaking wed morning with a hangover.
haven't had the hard stuff (dark whisky is my problem) for 1.5 years now. lost 40Lbs, my wife and I get along better, play with my kids more, work is easier to handle.
Just thought i'd add some positives for you to think about. I still drink me some brews now. but it's harder to get lit up when you don't want to consume too many calories anymore. with the hard stuff, you just make the drink that much stiffer then next time.
good luck.
