Anybody listen to death metal on this board?

The scales that are used in Technical:Progressive metal are sound. Diminished sweep picked arpeggios are as textbook as they come.

if you say so, and to each his own.

I honestly can't listen to any "metal" for more than 5 seconds without wanting to put needles in my ears. The screeching sounds of the guitars in death metal is just annoying as shit to me and then when the lead singers get to "singing"...it's just like...WTF? Especially when they get to doing that weird screeching/breathing/yelling shit. It's like...what the fuck is wrong with you.

well, I can't say they aren't talented...they obviously are. It started out really nice but then....yeah...got all "metal".

It just gets too fvcking weird for me and the fast pace and all of the noise sort of ruins it. Too much noise going on at once, all jumbled together, not really flowing and then the "singing" just completely ruins it. I could take that musical track and record vocals just like that. If I can do that...not impressed. I want to hear somebody actually SING like Freddie Mercury used to just sing his ass off. You know what I mean?

That whole montage is golden. For each their own I guess. My favorite band is a toss up between Modest Mouse and old Blink 182 honestly. I'm pretty diversed when it comes to music.

I'd put Peter Cetera above Mercury. Steve Perry too.

    Dying Fetus - Shepherd's Commandment

Track 2 From Descend Into Depravity (2009) Lyrics: We have the obligation, to direct your train of thought Showing what is prudent Just fulfilling the mandate going along with trendy disputes You prove our task A worthy undertaking, funneling your fury Greed and corruption, things that are below you Open minded fairness You think for yourself, pride and being reasonable Masses echo truth We declare the incompetent and describe their blunders We pronounce the majestic shining light on the renown We proclaim your heroes citing their humanity We announce the villains and deduce why you loath them Media slanted bias, can't be real this day It must be coincidence Why are some misguided? Consider our sophistication, how is pop-culture with us? Going against the grain, just a murky twist of fate Ordering you to challenge authority, the one of our choosing Demanding you to worship authority, the one of our choosing No time to debate, anyone who is beneath us Not in our refinement, more like neanderthal Intellectual obscurity, disease of the vagrants Not for us enlightened, the brains in the room Everyone thinks like me We must be are own sheep Silence all our critics Dissent can't have a place Exile them underground We're not taking sides, just promoting the logical Why should are careers change what we believe The goal of being objective endangers what we have faith in We're the source of truth reporting what you need to know The duty to guide the quest of knowledge Framing facts to ascertain the proper conclusion Helping the ignorant peasants of the populace Steering simple minds to understand what to ponder Blameless, on the right side Influence, justified

Cetera had a great voice, but Perry and Mercury were both a notch better IMO.

Now, Perry had a ridiculous voice, but so did Mercury, but Mercury could emote with his voice better IMO, and that's what sort of separated them. Mercury being a better performer and his band making better music as well, cause honestly most of Journey's music blows except for a few songs. Queen was consistently better and their best songs are better than Journey's best.

Biggest difference between Perry/Mercury though is the ability to convey emotion with the voice. Perry was more of a technical singer with a huge booming voice, Mercury was more like a vocal force of nature. IDK that's how I see it. When Mercury would sing something he would really saaaaaang it.

My mom said Perry would just bring the whole venue to pieces when he wanted to. She saw Journey 3 times the lucky woman. Loooooove Journey and Chicago because of her.

I really liked Chicago and Journey. Both had great lead singers, and Steve Perry had a flat out ridiculous voice, but I wasn't really a huge fan of a lot of Journey's music. They did have some really good songs though, no doubt. Think it would have been pretty interesting to see Perry front a better band, because that guy is one of the best male singers in the history of popular music.

I like listening to singers that can really sing though, so I automatically gravitate towards songs that feature a simple melody that anybody can sing and a singer that can really sing for real. I don't really like a whole lot of poppy music shit, but one of my favorites of all time is Michael Jackson- but again- simple melodies and somebody that can sing for real- so go figure.

    Right! Exactly!

People that dislike random loud noise and screaming instead of you know, musical instruments arraigned properly to create music and actual you know singing...automatically like Justin Bieber!

I honestly couldn't tell you a Justin Bieber song outside of that one Baby, Baby, Baby that was on the radio non-stop and hit #1 and sold millions.

I honestly just like you know...people that can play instruments and actually S-I-N-G....not redundant banging to make loud noises and stupid aholes yelling. I like to listen to people that can actually SING.

I was just messing with you, lol. I don't just listen to metal, one of my favorite artists and singers is Dallas Green and his solo work City & Colour. I enjoy some Frank Sinatra and Perry Como as well. Metal is just my main source of music.

But to be a good screamer is almost as hard as it is as being a good singer.
