well, I can't say they aren't talented...they obviously are. It started out really nice but then....yeah...got all "metal".
It just gets too fvcking weird for me and the fast pace and all of the noise sort of ruins it. Too much noise going on at once, all jumbled together, not really flowing and then the "singing" just completely ruins it. I could take that musical track and record vocals just like that. If I can do that...not impressed. I want to hear somebody actually SING like Freddie Mercury used to just sing his ass off. You know what I mean?

Cetera had a great voice, but Perry and Mercury were both a notch better IMO.
Now, Perry had a ridiculous voice, but so did Mercury, but Mercury could emote with his voice better IMO, and that's what sort of separated them. Mercury being a better performer and his band making better music as well, cause honestly most of Journey's music blows except for a few songs. Queen was consistently better and their best songs are better than Journey's best.
Biggest difference between Perry/Mercury though is the ability to convey emotion with the voice. Perry was more of a technical singer with a huge booming voice, Mercury was more like a vocal force of nature. IDK that's how I see it. When Mercury would sing something he would really saaaaaang it.

I really liked Chicago and Journey. Both had great lead singers, and Steve Perry had a flat out ridiculous voice, but I wasn't really a huge fan of a lot of Journey's music. They did have some really good songs though, no doubt. Think it would have been pretty interesting to see Perry front a better band, because that guy is one of the best male singers in the history of popular music.
I like listening to singers that can really sing though, so I automatically gravitate towards songs that feature a simple melody that anybody can sing and a singer that can really sing for real. I don't really like a whole lot of poppy music shit, but one of my favorites of all time is Michael Jackson- but again- simple melodies and somebody that can sing for real- so go figure.

probably a Michigan fan..

. I don't just listen to metal, one of my favorite artists and singers is Dallas Green and his solo work City & Colour. I enjoy some Frank Sinatra and Perry Como as well. Metal is just my main source of music.

Anybody listen to death metal on this board?
