Anyone have Comcast tv? Xfinity?

  • I'm moving and where I'm going does not have AT&T U-verse. My choices are Comcast and Suddenlink. Anyone have Comcast? Pros and cons? Thanks in advance.

  • Xfinity probably has the best technology, but the cable box sucks a big bag of dicks.

I love Comcast. Offers a decent sport package and Howard tv. It's decently priced. Do you have the new HD DVR box that they started producing about a year ago? Because I've never had any issues with this one.

I'll admit, I love the on demand aspect, but I can't say it competes with AT&T Uverse.

  • Better than direct tv or dish, IMO

  • I have Comcast Xfinity and love it. My wife and I had FiOS for about a year. We had issues with service being "out" or lots of freezing. We honestly haven't had one gripe on Xfinity since we switched about a year and a half ago.

  • Comcast is the worst thing to happen to the human race since the Black Plague. Burn it. Burn it with fire.

  • 5-10 years ago, I would have laughed at anyone who said Comcast was good. It was terrible. With that being said, it has really improved with both the TV and internet. I personally prefer a properly set up FiOS system more (and that is not a given), but Comcast is cheaper and has closed the gap a bit.

  • I just left Comcast because my HD DVR boxes were effin terrible. The boxes always froze, the DVR stopped working on several boxes, HD quality sucked, the picture pixilated when it rained, and customer service was the absolute worst of any company I have ever dealt with. Satan > Comcast IYAM. I went to DirecTV and told them to eff off. My experience may be limited to my area but pretty much everyone I know has left them and/or leaving for some other service. I still have them for Internet though.

If the picture pixilated when it rained, it is a cable issue (in your house or the cable coming into your house). They are terrible though when it comes to getting new cable put in your house. My parents had cable from the 80's that just couldn't handle anything, and Comcast did everything they could to get the system "to work" before they finally gave in and re-wired the house.

They ran new cable to the house and then re-wired the house itself. Still had issues and their answer was for me to drop my box off and pick up another box which didn't work for ish when I got it home. I would then had problems with the new box and they would say come get another one. Half of the time they wouldn't re-program my new box (used and beat to hell actually) correctly and I would have all of 3 channels when I got home. I mean, how hard is it to pull off giving me an HD DVR box that actually effing worked. Those people were incompetent.

  • I would switch to Comcast but I keep Direct TV for the Sunday Ticket. Being a Browns fan and living in Indy I kind of have to. I thought Direct TV was about to lose their exclusive rights to the Sunday Ticket?

    Buck that

  • I've been with Comcast 8 years and they have really stepped up their game the last 3-4 years. Not so much a problem with the cable tv prior to that, but with their internet. I work 50% of the time from home and am dead in the water without it.They always gave me a credit if there was extended down time, but that hasn't happened in several years. Absolutely no problems with the cable tv. I worked in the cable business decades ago and learned early on if you have good equipment and your house is wired properly, most problems are eliminated.

It's not coincidence that DirecTV is now offering Sunday Ticket for free.

    getmyjive11

  • I've had Comcast for a little while now (TV, sometimes internet - deals are usually best for "new subscribers" so I keep switching our internet provider).

Not sure I'd be much help. We have the first digital tier of cable, no HDTV, no DVR or anything. Just cable. It's been fine, nothing to write home about but also not superb. Once in a while we've had issues, but not many recently.

Believe you can watch Sunday ticket through a PS3 now if that impacts your decision at all.

  • If you have Comcast Xfinity you get free access to ESPN3.

Pretty good selling point for me.

  • Absolutely love comcast tv and internet

Only drawback ive ever had is the dvr can only record 2 things at once and you have to watch one of the 2
