WTF is a labtop?

Dell windows 7 with i5 core processor. Moderately affordable and works like a charm.

get the macbook pro if your just gong to use it to surf the internet and normal day to day activities.

I purchased two laptops for 600 and 700 each during college. I would say I went to best buy 4 times a racked up about 500 dollars each in problems. Every problem known to man was wrong with them. hell one of the viruses was just because I used rivals and they got hacked.

I got my mack 14 months ago for 1200 and I havent spent a penny on it. I can do whatever I want and not be worrying about a virus, and its much easier to use.

Only reason to get a PC is if your looking to spend less money on an inferior product or if you into computer gaming.

have to agree although i do know some folks that have had trouble with their Mac to me they are worth the money

My friend has a Mac and he loves it. They are expensive but for a laptop it's worth it. My preference is the dell but both will last a long time

I have a 15" with a quad core and 4GB RAM with a 1GB graphics card and this thing soars through everything. Plus I run parallels and using the spaces commands I can have both Mac's OS X and Windows 7 running at the same time and flip back and forth through them with 2 button clicks.

Also the functionality on a mac is just so much better than that on a pc. Using the expose and spaces commands I can do so much more work than on just a regular PC. Plus for design work and using software like SolidWorks, ProEngineer, Matlab, ANSYS, and Finite Element Solvers I've coded myself it runs so much better on the Mac. I would say the same for Photoshop and any graphics intensive program. For me it's a no brainer because for a customer if I am designing a product I want to give him the best image I can and rendering on the Mac is 3-4 times faster and cleaner than that on a PC.

Oh yeah, no screen glare issues. Yes they are more expensive machines but are much more user friendly and if you need it for powering through analysis or graphics intense games and/or software, it's the way to go.

Apple just knows how to get more out of a similar machine on a PC with similar specs. Their software uses more advanced algorithms to speed through memory allocations and processing user actions.

I have 2 PC's (1 Sony Vaio laptop and a home built machine I spent $1800 on) and a Macbook Pro (spent $1850 on) and the MacBook Pro just blows it away. Sure if I'm going to have a computer be down all night just running calculations or crunching data I'll give it to my home built but other than that I use my mac for everything.

Macbook Pro. Just do it man, totally worth the money. Get a one year warranty and if it makes it through the first year free of any problems it will last for a looooong time.

How? HP is waayy better than Dell, Acer, and Toshiba

If your going the PC route Acer is one of the last brands you want to look at, heard many bad things. Dell's are the standard PC laptop, I've also heard Toshiba's are reliable.

Had my MBP for about 18 months now and even though its still under warranty I have not had one single issue with it, never had to take it in for something or even troubleshoot a problem. But you do pay a premium without a doubt if you go this route.

You will notice a difference in the stability of the OS, again advantage Mac. But Windows OS's but default are more customizable. That being said the disparity isn't as great as it may seem I had a Gateway laptop for 4.5 years before the MacBook and didn't have too many problems with it until the hard drive finally crashed.
