use parallels and you can run all platforms on it...I have no issues running programs in both OS X and Windows 7

Dell/Mac/HP... if you want to be ripped off for a "brand name".
Asus if you want actual quality at every price range.

I'm a PC guy. If you just do little simple things to maintain your PC it will last a long time for cheap. Had a 250 laptop that lasted 3 and a half years until I fell on it and broke the screen. Little maintenance goes a very long way. I have a Lenevo now and it is working pretty good for now but have only had it for 6 months or so. If you get a PC invest in some virus protection and use adblock.

True dat. Ditch Internet Explorer. Adblock is is an absolute must. Windows 7 has been nice and stable for me, and the free Microsoft Security Essentials has protected me well from viruses.

To each their own, but I started making the switch to Mac in 2010 and haven't looked back. Expensive but after having virus after virus (yes, you can get viruses on a Mac, too, just not as many out there) I got tired of f'ng with it all and took the plunge. I really, really like em.
I've had HP, Dell, Asus and I use a Lenovo laptop at work and have had problems with them all. Apple's customer service has blown them all away the only time I have had any problems.
Again, JMO, but I'm loving the Mac thing...

Get a MacBook.
I just switched to Mac like 2 weeks ago, it is 100x better.
Also, if you have good credit best buy will give you a credit card that will let you pay it off over 18 months with no interest.
I got a MacBook with a 350$ 2 year insurance and with Microsoft Office all for 1600$ and I'm paying 80$ a month with no interest accruing.

I have both macs and pcs...and all this hooplah about macs being insanely better isnt true. Each have their strong and weak points. If you're smart and don't click links, open weird emails, and have the windows antivirus then you will be fine. The issue with Macs, is that they arent upgradeable. You're stuck with what you got unless you want to spend out the wazoo. People might like MACs better, but in reality its all about what you use them for.

Used to be all about Dell and hated Macs. Finally got tired of all the issues with windows and Dell and made the switch to MacBook Pro, can't believe it took me so long. I'll never get anything but a Mac again, by far the best laptops I've ever used.

I made the switch to macs back in 2006 and have never wanted to switch back to PC. There really shouldn't be any concern about running certain programs because of things like Parallels.
If you have to get a PC, I would go with ASUS or Lenovo. IMO, they are much better than Dell, HP or Sony.
