Anyone live in Denver?

  • Wife may get a job offer we can't pass up and I can work from anywhere. I have been out there a few times amd it seems great. I'm a Florida boy though so the cold kind of worries me. Either way we have to get out of Orlando. Can't take the millions of tourists anymore.

Just so happens I love both. How are the sporting events? I've heard Bronco games are fun. What about the Rockies and Nuggs?

I've heard of Estes Park. I've heard the downtown scene is pretty cool. Like to see some places with culture. Living in Otown is Chillis and TGI Fridays and thats it. Along with Disney being shoved down your throat all day

Unfortunately, there are a ton of chain restaurants here too...unlike Seattle...but look hard enough and you can find some pretty cool hole in the wall type places. I'm planning to fully take in the Great American Beer Festival in October..going to explore Downtown this weekend for the first time..

Sweet. Let me know how it goes. I'm from St Augustine so I guess I just was spoiled with whole in the walls. Beer festivals are incredible

At least you can drink Fat Tire on tap no matter where you go...... I hate living in Florida!

Orlando is not part of FL. It's got it's own little world. Where in FL do you live?

  • If I could move anywhere in the country it would be Colorado.

    MildReTIDEation

  • Like everyone, I've debated whether or not to just go for it and move out to CO. I've had friends take seasonal jobs or take a job out there, but they always come back. I know a lot goes into it, but I've always wondered if it had something to do with CO itself?

  • I have a bunch of extended family in Colorado, but mostly in the Springs area. Pretty sure my parents will eventually move out there following retirement.

Your friends all moved out there when they were young and all probably single at the time. When they started "growing up" and getting closer to marriage/kids, then it was important for them to be near family.

At least that is the story of most of my buddies that have gone out west.

I think you're on to something there. Just thought it was interesting that nothing could keep them out there. If I did it, I could see myself staying.

I was talking about it with my wife this week actually. I wish we could transplant the ENTIRE family (Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncle, G-Moms, etc) out there. We take at least one trip out every year.

It is pretty much impossible to move away when you have a business, relationships, family and everything else already established somewhere.

I've stayed out west numerous times... but never with the intention of not coming back. I have a good buddy who swears he is staying "this time" but always end up back home. Think there is a difference in wanting to move out west during a good time in your life versus trying to move away from a bad one. Move for the right reasons & you'll definitely stay IMO.

Life in San Francisco... is still just life - Augustus McCrae

I think a key aspect is to move out there for a career, not seasonal work.
