I loved the LOTR trilogy but I just can't get psyched up for this one for some reason. I'll still see it eventually.

Yeah, from what I understand he used the Hobbit as a way to include a lot of the additional texts by Tolkien.

I'm going to see a daytime feature before it gets busy tonight. My boss is actually coming with us and we're all going to a day feature so that's pretty cool, half day at work in the stock market is a friggin' first.

Saw it in 3D last night. Very good movie. Not sure where I'd rank it along with LOtR. Maybe 4th but I am super high on all three originals.

I have never personally read all of the works in the Silmarillion, but in the Hobbit itself there are definitely some GOOD side stories that it just hints at and those I do believe are in the Silmarillion. I think he did the right thing, I can say for sure after tonight though.
