Notre Dame where overrated talent never develops.

Really? ND has had the second most 1st round picks ever, including two (Floyd, Smith) last year. Genius.

And still average at best on the field

Alabama was average for a generation or so too, until they hired Saban. No excuse for you guys since anybody with a pulse can get into school there. And, do you graduate anybody?

It's all cyclical - was it 4 years ago Bama lost to a 1aa team????

We remember bama in the 90s and the majority of the first decade of the new century......

I'll agree, everything goes in cycles and I'll be happy with the current cycle but it seems that ND has plenty of resources and underwhelms. How long has it been since they were relevant?

You are posting on a thread about a ND commit, as a Bama fan. Relevancy proven.

Haha you have to love most notre dame fans and their academic jokes since they cannot beat the team on the field.

Here we go with the same ole excuses. I'm sure there will be some that have exact facts but yes i am pretty sure they graduate the majority of players and graded fairly high on the last report that tracks this but would need someone to provide that info. I love how you guys talk about what was 10 years ago. Good luck on an very below average year coming up if you would like to start throwing stones. Make one comment about under performing on he field with all the resources and get great feed back

How long was Alabama irrelevant? For over 20 years. And, unlike ND which has stringent academic standards, there is no obstacle like that in Tuscaloosa.

Oh, and you cheat too like the rest of the SEC. What is the cost for a 5 star in the Deep South?

Not really in response to ND commit, more about the post that was made of why so many kids/fans like ND.

I thought it was a public board, my mistake

FSU hasn't been lighting up either since you people ran Bowden out of town. You don't play anyone, so there should be no excuse.

Actually in the SEC all the schools pool there money and pull 5 star names out of a hat to see which school they go to. Gets complicated cause were all so stupid in the south

Well, Cam Newton went for around 200 G's, so I would say its somewhere in that ballpark.

We sure did light up the Irish last year in the bowl game in the 2nd half. Your team let four freshman OL and one Senior push your DL around, and a QB who was injured beat you.

ND has more national titles, Heismans (tied with SC), All Americans and players/coaches in the HOF than any other school.

UM is national title deficient with only one consensus title since WWII.

    ND is the king.

Light up? Really? It was a close game. You only won because Floyd got hurt.

    Greg,

I am as big of a ND fan as anyone. But, lets stop using that as an excuse. ND has a great pool of talent to choose from yearly. Do they have the entire Top 100 to choose from? No, but there is plenty of talent for ND to sign. Do they have the same pool as Bama and LSU? Of course not but there is elite talent out there for ND. The fact is that of the 26 commits for Bama in 2012, ND was able to offer 5. So yes, there is a disadvantage but still plenty of elite kids that will come to ND. ND struggles on the field have nothing to do with getting talent. These types of arguments make ND fans sound petty, I will not use academic standards as an excuse. ND just started allowing early enrollees 6 years ago and just got a training table 2 years ago. It things like this plus several BAD coaching hires in a row by the administration that have stopped ND from winning. The administration had to make up their collective minds that football is going to be important again. They changed their perception after Holtz left because they were afraid ND was going to be perceived as some kind of football factory, but they are slowly starting to realize it again. Now, I do not buy this irrelevant crap that people spew, everyone thought ND would be forced to join a conference but there ND is, sitting pretty with access to the final four and a reported annual tie in to the Orange bowl and supposedly working on a Fiesta Bowl tie in as well. Relevance is not the issue off the field, but as a fan I am ready for ND to start winning again on the field.
