Are all 911 operators this ridiculous? F'ed up

  • Guy calls 911 because his gf is outside arguing with her ex. The ex ends up shooting and killing her then kills himself.

    I realize operators are supposed to stay calm but god she was a signcurse

    So sad...

  • I stopped one time to help on the interstate because a corvette blew a tire and slammed into the median wall, essentially disintegrating. Luckily the guy was okay, just missing an ear, but I got transferred to 3 times until the 4th operator was in the proper location to dispatch emergency vehicles.

    Luckily an off-duty EMS guy was passing by and stopped too. It wasn't a life or death situation, but it was comical explaining where I was down to the mile marker to 4 different people until one was able to send help.

  • I have a cousin that grew up here in Nebraska. He went to northwest Missouri state for college. He had an internship in Kansas city one summer during his college career. Well one night he woke up to Orange/red flashing light in his window. Turns out the neighbors house across the street was on fire. He called 911 immediately and the operator didn't believe him and almost hung up on him because he had a Nebraska area code.... He said he was calling on his cell phone. Needless to say it took around 2-3 minutes to convice the lady that he was legit. He used that time to run across the street and get the family out of the house.

    Seriously I would rather send the fire dept, and take a chance of it being a prank than risk peoples lives.

    Agreed... i would have called, said get your asses here and gone out to protect her... in hindsight he would no longer be with us but that would be my initial reaction...

  • Hell even after he shot her and shot himself he lolly gaged around on the horn for 5 min. Cops showed and he couldn't tell them were she had been hit.

  • I don't see a problem with how the dispatcher handled things at all. She immediately sent police, then tried to gather as much information as possible, as she is trained to do.

    What was the deal with the boyfriend? Aside from the initial shock of the gun being fired, he seemed pretty ho-hum about his girlfriend getting taken out.

    if i were him i wouldn't have gone outside, once that dude pulls the gun you going outside isn't going to help anything, it'll most likely make it worse... but if he is outside when he pulls the gun that's awful

    They call you back before they send anyone. If you don't answer their call, then they will send someone.
