Are you an alumnus of the school you pull for?

  • Graduating from MSU in December.
    BA in criminal justice
    minor in computer science

    KamState

  • No. Unfortunately I could not afford out of state tuition. I went the Kennesaw State and graduated with a biology degree (and a minor in chemistry)

  • Nope, went back to school at 23, university of phoenix online. It works when you have a family.

    ApostolicHawk

  • Nope. Decided to go a different route after high school. Got out in October of '09, and its not like I can just move my wife away from her job up to Morgantown just for me to go to some classes. Went to a year of community college and now waiting for classes to start to become a roughneck(work on an oil rig).

Kind of, I went to Fsu from 2003-2006, transferred to USF and graduated in 2007 from USF.

89 of my credit hrs are from FSU but my degree is from usf

You are an alumnus of all three. You are a graduate of USF. All you have to do is take one class at a college to be an alumnus.

    MSU 2006 for me.

Rooting for a college team can be about parents, location, or what school you went to. All you need is a connection.

I've always disliked how people tried to claim they were "better" than other fans. If we took that attitude at Penn State, then half the stadium would be empty, because wouldn't have enough "real" fans to fill it up.

These Universities are about big time academics, and in many cases, big time money. Not everyone can attent. That doesn't mean you can't be a diehard.

Frankly, I don't care what you think.

I have been a Michigan fan for years and I ain't going to stop being just because I didn't attend.

Some people can't seem to understand that.

I know some MSU fans that never attended MSU, does that make them any less of a fan? As long as they cheer for their MSU when they are winning or losing, they are a fan in my book.

you dont live in a state that has two major D1 schools.

root for who you want. i couldnt care less. but non alum/graduates of UofM LOVE to talk down to Michigan State....and not just the athletic department, but the school as a whole, including academics. and no, this is not based on a random anecdote, EVERY Spartan fan has had dozens upon dozens of run ins with 'walmart wolverines' that love to talk down, call us little brother. they teach their little inbred children little ryhmes like 'can' read, cant write' (a play on go green!, go white!). and of course their favorite line 'if you cant get into college go to State!'

yea ok buddy, i hope you 3 semesters as UM-Flint (which is a seperate school..they love to think its a satellite campus) and your 'degree' at ITT Tech are bringing in a lot more than my measly MSU degree

It's the same story with me and Syracuse. I moved to America when I was 2 years, specifically Buffalo, NY. My family lived in upstate NY until I was in 5th grade, before moving to PA. By that time I already had all my teams. The Bills, The Knicks, The Mets, And Syracuse Basketball & Football.

Since then, I went to Penn State, and they are my alumni and will root for them regardless of who they play against. But I will always consider myself a bigtime fan of Syracuse. I grew up rooting for them.

FWIW - I had no idea you were a Michigan State fan. Though that doesn't really change my post.

And yes, PA does deal with that. For college, it's about 55% Penn State, 40% Notre Dame, and the rest Pitt. I will admit I find Subway ND fans highly annoying. As far as I can tell, the only reason a lot of these people root for ND is because they win football games and show up on TV a lot.

WI have never worked for the Steelers organization. Is it still OK to be Steelers fan? Sorry I joined the military instead of going to WVU.
