Where the hell do you live?

I guess I should have said that it is cheaper than 4 miller lites at a restaurant. I live in Miami.

  • As far as brewers with multiple top tier products go, I'd throw Lagunitas in the mix as well: IPA, Hop Stoopid, and Lucky 13 alt.bier

Lagunitas is a very solid brewery as well. Dogfish is up there for me as well as Avery and Brooklyn.

Would love to try some of Bell's stuff.

  • I am a fan of another Cali brewery, Speakeasy based in SF. Any fans of their Untouchable or Big Daddy IPA?

Also, anyone know when Terrapin releases their seasonal wheat beer? Now that I am in the South I've been looking to try it.

Try Double Bastard and Oak Aged Arrogant Bastard

Also why do people refuse to use the Beer Thread?

About to make an AB derivative I'm calling "Ignert Bastard". 180 IBU and 9% ABV.

  • Haven't yet had a chance to try any Stone beers but it is definitely on my list once I come across them. Greg Koch is without a doubt one the more outspoken founders if you follow him on twitter.

My first taste. Color me impressed. Unfortunately it will be a rare event due to the 350 calories in this bottle.

Welcome to the world of Stone.

Their Levitation Ale has a lot of flavor for not as many calories.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I've had Hop Stoopid and heard its a good approximation for those who can't get their hands on Pliny The Elder. Not quite the same but close.

Rather than drinking two bottles of "light beer" drink one 12oz bottle of something like AB. Calories are directly proportional to abv, so drinking two 12oz light beers isnt much different from drinking one AB which is 7.2%. But like the other poster mentioned it sounds like that is a 22oz bottle.

I definitely gotta try some Avery product. Local burger joint [kinda like a Five Guys, but with beer [banana]] has Brooklyn lager on tap, and that's a go to every time I go there; this is a super solid session beer IYAM, and I will continue to go to this one; to me the brown ale was ok, but I want to try some of their other product when I see it.

Bell Two Hearted is very good, but it seems like alot of people put it forth as the gold standard for IPAs. I prefer Stone IPA, Ruination, Lagunitas, Terrapin Hopsecutioner and Smuttynose IPA, as well as Dogfish head 90; the 90 is a great IPA, but the 120 Tastes more like cognac than beer IMO...not a big fan of that one, although you gotta love the ABV

yes its definitely the 22oz bottle...and yes I know that its directly related to abv...very tasty. On week nights I like to have 1-2 tasty beers sometimes. will have to start looking at their other brews.

Do you live in Ft lauderdale? I'm yet to find Hop stoopid in Kendall. I did find a couple Stone Vertical Epic, but there was no way I could hold off until 12/12/12 to try them out. I should check the Total Wines instead of ABC though.

I actually meant that I have never tried Pliny, no way in hell I could get it where I live but that people who have had both Pliny and Hop Stoopid say they are actually very similar, and HS is cheaper and much more readily available. For people that can't get there hands on Pliny, Hop Stoopid is a good alternative.

I got to get my hands on some "middle America" beers though. I've had DFH 90 and I've had my far share of West Coast IPAs, but nothing really from the middle. Stuff from Avery, Great Divide, Founders, Bells, etc. The Great American Beer Festival would the most "efficient" way to do haha. Let's just say while their is a craft beer scene in Canada and its growing we still have a ways to go to get anything resembling the US. BC, Quebec, and Ontario are doing some interesting things in beer but the rest of the country its pretty minimal.

Cigar City in Tampa is another interesting one but distribution is very limited at this point as far as I know.
