  • Leave it to a chick to get butthurt about hard hitting and calling for Sean Peyton to be fired.

    Same with Pat Y.

I'm not saying he should get fired but I absolutely think he deserves a suspension and major fines for it. To reward players for hurting other players just isn't what coaches should do.

  • Honestly, I think being told to stop and not complying is a bigger issue with the league.

I like the suggestion by some radio guys here in Atlanta of taking away the franchise tag for this season, but I know it won't happen.

Must say I'm enjoying the sensationalizing by ESPN though.

good post. The REAL issue is the Saints turning their noses up to a warning by the NFL. They should get punished based on stupidity of doing that. Who cares aboput big hits and whether or not people got paid for them. Thats what they get paid for in their contract, so i guess owners and GM's are "bounty hunters" as well.

this has been going on for a long time and it won't stop...Sean Payton is just going to be the whipping boy for it coming out in the press

it will continue on every squad in some fashion and even on the Saints, just people will keep it hush hush more after this situation

people are just going to have to deal with the fact that the NFL is a man's game and by playing it you risk serious injury at times

    this ain't ice skating

  • Football has become more of a offensive game these last few years. It is like a defensive player cannot do anything without getting a flag, but the offensive player gets away with more BS.

I agree. Hitting hard is one thing, but what the 'aints did to Brett Favre was out of line.

I don't necassarily condone players trying to injure another guy but I have no problem with guys being rewarded for big hits.

Goodell won't stop until we are playing touch football. In ten years time the NFL will be unrecognizable and probably won't be as popular.

    yep

i'm a saints fan and the face that its happening is not an issue. It really does happen on every team and tons of retired guys are saying that.

the fact that they were told they were being investigated because of it and still kept doing it is f#$%!ing moronic

Who cares? A guy can get injured just as easily by a guy trying to make a clean hit. A hit is a hit, as long as it's not away from the play and WAY after the whistle. Based on what people have been saying, that kinda stuff didn't happen.

If the coaches are offering money to have someone be "carted" off the firld I absolutely have a problem with it. When an O-Lineman blows out his knee by getting rolled up on should the defender get up and celebrate? It was completely legal and "a part of the game". As a reward he should celebrate that he forced a backup lineman to come in

I don't want to see guys going after players knees or hitting guys late.

But i also don't want players to become scared to hit a guy hard which is what it will come to. Offenses just aren't scared anymore.

Doesn't mean it should be rewarded to have players being carted off the field. I understand injuries happen at any point whether you are going full speed or half speed but it shouldn't be rewarded by the staff to injure someone.

I want players to hit hard and play hard but does there really need to be staff that rewards if you make someone leave on a cart?

    true true.

According to what i've heard, that kinda stuff wasn't happening. If a guy gets injured, it is what it is. The fact that he just got $10,000 because of the injury has no impact on whether the injury would have happened or not.

meh, doesn't bother me. The injury was going to happen whether or not the guy making hit just got $10,000, or got nothing.

I just worry that all of the physicality will be taken out of football.
