What steps does Kelly need to take on getting over that 8,9,10 win plateau and move into that 11-12 win seasons? It's been a rocky few years in South Bend, and with the nightmare schedule this year, it looks as if Kelly is headed to another 7-8 win season? Just wanted to get your opinions on the matter. A solid Grantland article on the turmoil in South Bend...

You have it wrong. It's actually been a rocky 25 years.
I think a more interesting question would be when will Saban and the Tide get hit real hard with sanctions and get their titles stripped??

Yeah all those teams are extremely tough. 4 top 15 teams. Any team would struggle with that schedule.

every b12 and sec team will play a tougher schedule than notre dame will.

It's the toughest schedule in the country. What would you define as a nightmare schedule then?

How is Stanford a likely loss? Luck is with the Colts now and Harbaugh is long gone.

those 5 are definitely tough - ou, usc, stan, msu and um are all tough teams, but the rest of the schedule is creampuff. take byu (who will suck this year) out, and the remaining 6 teams were well under .500 last year.
texas a&m has a brutal schedule - lsu, bama, ark, florida, auburn, mizzou. even la tech won their conference last year and sam houston went to the fbs finals.
texas will have 5 ranked teams too - ou, okst, ksu, tcu and wvu. but unlike notre dame, texas will win most of those games.

I think we go 8-4 wih losses to MSU Oklahoma USC and Stanford but we can definitely beat the trees.

because stanford still has a mammoth offensive line, a stable of studs at rb and a damn good defense.

How do you know Texas will win those games? Texas really isn't a powerhouse anymore.

Ya but Texas is kind of hit or miss on the field these days, kind of like the Irish. I had that type of confidence once when it cames to the smaller opponents on our schedule.

Not a flame, but BK hasn't won 9 or 10 games at ND yet.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Our 2013 schedule is very manageable so I expect 10 wins Atleast which isn't asking much and 2014 should be our real break out year. That schedule is extremely easy besides Michigan and USC.
