Autry has Buckeyes on top

Four-star 2014 athlete Myles Autry of Norcross (Ga.) doesn't have a top five or a top three, but he does have a top one. And it's Ohio State.

  • Damn another GA boy falling for Urbs. ESPN's love fest with that dude needs to end now, sad that he's part of broadcast team for BCSNCG. That 1 year at ESPN is paying off huge. Really sucks that the B10 blows and Urbs is about to own that conference for the next 4/5 years. UM, PSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin. Northwestern, and Iowa need to step their game up.

  • Let's say georgia has a subpar year (8-4) and urbie comes in and takes his pick of the top georgia kids, does that put him on the hot seat?

I'd say yes, but every team that recruits GA wants him to stay there a long time. Urbs would be good candidate for UGA job, imagine him locking up GApanic

  • The bigger issue is that OSU is just joining the gluttony of schools that raid GA every year and it's not kids UGA doesn't want. Imagine if UGA could keep 15 of the top 20 in the state at home? Bama already takes who they want(relatively) from GA and then add in Auburn, FSU, UF and Clemson and we're talking quite a hefty group of major talent leaving GA. Add in OSU and Meyer and that's even more competition for Richt to face for instate talent. I like Richt as a man but UGA needs a coach and staff that can make it very hard for others to come in and take the kids they want. A guy like Saban or Meyer would lock that state down for the most part. Have to be willing to play by the same rules with all that competition.

  • The state of Georgia would be tremendously difficult to lock down. Frankly I'm not sure it's possible. UGA only has a proximity advantage in Atlanta. The west Georgia kids are closer to Auburn and about as close to Tuscaloosa. The south GA kids are closer to FSU and UF. On top of that, a huge portion of the city of Atlanta is not from there, so there is no loyalty to the in-state school. There are prominent alumni from tons of schools in the Atlanta area, even as high school coaches, so kids are often times getting pushed to out-of -state programs. The Atlanta Airport being a national hub hurts UGA in terms of allowing kids to get to more schools and for more recruiters to spend more time in ATL.

All told, Richt does a pretty good job securing enough talent to compete with anybody. Would Saban or Meyer do better? Probably, but talent has never been the issue with Richt.

  • In Urban we trust!!! We are at the tip of the ice burg .. When Luke took the helms for a year we lost every close game except Wisky we blew games against Purdue, Penn State, Scum 4 over throws, Sparty we were a tired, drained team... and this year a team thàt was rejuvenated and refused to lose attitude that won every close game a better conditioned team. Now we are about to get his recruits in. Tress didn't leave the cubberds bare for sure but Urban is stuffing them full with top notch goodies ... If we get a pipe line to Georgia along with what we already have going we will be competing with Saban and Miles regularly!!! So very exciting to hear kids from the South say Thee Ohio State is my dream school.. We rarely hear that from Ohio kids. Can you imagine 4 Georgia guys helping Urbs recruit. ???? Heck yea man. I love this....

  • I don't think I've ever heard a top tier prospect from Ohio say that UGA is his dream school.

Luke Roberts said that until Urbs swayed him back to OSU once he took over.

  • Thats because people move to GA from Ohio, not the other way around. There are tons of Buckeyes in GA, no Bulldogs in Ohio.

    UGAbrown78

  • Also, UGA gets top rates NC/SC/FLA kids too. Marshall and Gurley from NC, AJ Green was from SC, Theus and Murray from FLA, looks like Laremy Tunsil (FLA) is a UGA lean. Looking at 2014 RBs from the state of GA, you have Autry, Williams, Choice, Chubbs all being studs. The state has too much talent, no one team is getting ALL of those guys. GA is typically 4th in D1 players, behind Tex, Cal, and Fla, with Ohio being 5th.
