Axl Rose is the most overrated front man ever.

    Why all the Dave hate?

    Because he's dumb.

He did turn on his poop chopper on his tour bus over some politicians(legend here in Northern Illinois is that politicians were on the boat) on a bridge in Chicago which makes him cool. But he is dumb

A driver for the Dave Matthews Band admitted Wednesday that he emptied his bus' septic tank over the Chicago River last summer, drenching passengers on an architectural boat tour with 800 pounds of human waste.

I'm sure I've discussed this with you before BLF, but your compass is waaaaay off. Axl has one of the most unique voices for a rock/metal band out there.

This. When I was a kid and first heard GnR, I thought there were 2 different people singing. Lol at these young uns calling him overrated. Look at these butt pirates today and try to tell me with a straight face that it is good rock n roll. Smh.

Rock, country, even rap has become so pop that it isn't even good. Nobody comes out with albums anymore where every song is great. You might get lucky and hear 2-3 good songs on an album these days.

I think mostly just because his music is horrible. I remember when it was pretty good 17 years ago.

Lead singer, yeah not great. Frontman, you could argue top 10.

  • I've got to nominate....

Robert Plant. srs. Dude was a great singer, but he got waaaaaaaay to much credit for Zeppelin. Jimmy Page is top 2 guitarist of all time, JPJ plays bass, organ, fiddle, and every other instrument, and Bonzo was a great drummer. Its not that Plant is a bad singer, he's not, but he gets way too much credit for LZ. And honestly, some of his vocals can get annoying.

disclaimer: my favorite band of all time

agree on Axl. Slash made GnR (can you tell I am biased to guitarists yet?)

Cobain wrote most of the Nirvana songs, so I don't put him up there, Nirvana was all Cobain...even though he's not a great singer or guitar player.

Worst frontman of all time....is a frontwoman. Wilson lady in Heart. her voice is like nails on chalkboard, music was fine.

Really? I sorta see your point with his supporting cast being so great but I dont understand putting Plant in the same category as Hootie, Dave Matthews, and others.

You're way off, Izzy wrote most of the songs for GnR. Also, that band was pretty much a team, you can't really point to one player that made that band great they all contributed. Read Duff's book It's So Easy.

That's one of the reasons he left. Axl wanted to do different things musically that Izzy wasn't cool with. He also hated the road & got clean & thought that being around people that weren't sober were against his best interests. Although he has done a few one off appearances with Axl's new GNR in recent years

Izzy created most of the ideas, but then you have to look at the rhythm section. Duff and Steven Addler...those two were an incredible rhythm section. Duff has a truly unique bass sound and Addler was super tight at creating the back beat. You replace anyone of those guys and it doesn't work. It was a gestalt, the sum of all the parts made appetite such a great album.

True, and all those songs came from living hand to mouth, and in the ghetto in Hollywood. Once they got rich, stuff changed. I thought it was interesting that "You Could Be Mine", and "November Rain", didn't make the cut to be on Appetite. I always thought they wrote those songs after Appetite.

Really. Let me guess your a Niki Minaj fan...Tool.

Axl Rose is one of the best frontmen of al time. Its not about what some dillweed on a message board thinks about him. Its hte fact that his tours sold the F out everytime they were made avail.

Quick question-- When do you go on tour and how many albums have you sold?? My guess...NONE and NEVER!

Hate Dave Matthews as much as you want....DMB was the most visited tour of the year last year. How did yalls tours go?

Figures this was started by a bammer. Does it hurt your feelings that he wasnt auto tuned?? Or maybe he should send all his albums to Skrillex and have them dubstepped!

Thats even funnier than the idea that Axl isnt a great frontman...

Let me see here... Geddy Lee..In a band that has been putting out music for some 30+ years...One of the most iconic voices and recognizable voices in all of music. And to top it off...One of the best bass players to ever live.

Go jump on dance dance revolution and quit acting like you actually know music.

Yeah, I think Nov Rain was some ballad Axl wrote earlly on. My gf has some acoustic demo for it.

You Could Be Mine if I recall correctly was pure Izzy.

Again you are correct about the environment, that was definitely the back drop they were singing about. I stayed right by where they wrote most of those songs and it's a nice posh area now.

You are firing me up to throw on Appetite which is always a good thing. cheers
