B1G Championship Game LULZ

  • Neither Nebraska nor Wisconsin sold out their allotment of tickets.

That game is such a sham.

  • On a serious note, it's not like its a bowl game where people can plan a month in advance to where they want to go. If its in Chicago, still wouldnt make that big of a difference. It's a bitch getting down there AND going to a bowl game for a lot of fans who might have Packer tickets or the like.
Of course, Buckeyes wouldn't know what it's like to play for the championship game and a bowl game in the same season yet, so I wouldn't expect you to know that. Sucks to suck, Devidee.

It must have been great to be a Badger after the Ohio State game this year.

You're running out of material man, that joke got used by a Buckeye A few threads down. Still happy to be in the position we are in. We earned it off the field, definitely earned it given the circumstances. If we win tonight, and I'm not that stupid to acknowledge its a big ifBuckeye fans are the only ones who are going to be complaining "Well.... They didn't really earn that third championship! We totally would've won if we got the chance" If ifs and buts were candies and nuts, we would all have a merry Christmas

  • Well who in their right mind would pay for a ticket when they pay seat fillers $100 to be there?

    Why not do both?

Pretty obvious IYAM. Is everything we hear about Nebraska fans reality? If so, why wouldn't they turn on in record numbers for their first chance at a B1G title.

$80 through UNL vs $30 on Stub hub.... which would you buy. We eat, breath and sleep Husker football but we aren't stupid and going to pay more when we don't have to.

The only conference that does the Championship game right is the SEC.

two things come to mind as to why it is so successful in the SEC:

    1. The venue is Atlanta which is not a ridiculous distance from any of the SEC schools. Well, you could argue that aTm and Mizzou are a bit of a drive but the rest of the league is within 8 hours at the furthest point. Most are within 3-5 hours tops.

    2. The fan bases are passionate about the game. It has been around for 2 decades and it is an awesome experience. These other leagues have teams that have to travel a great distance and the stadiums are getting packed. Part of the reason is the fact that teams don't know if they are going to be in it so they don't plan beforehand.

Disagree. I think the P12 has it right. Give the team with the best record home field advantage. Nothing beats 100,000+ in a college stadium. Certainly not 65,000 in some generic NFL stadium in Indy.

You are confusing the exception with the rule. Would the turnout have been better if the game had been played in SF 49ers stadium? And last year, Autzen Stadium was packed and rocking for the P12CG. Last night was a Stanford thing, though scheduling the game at 5pm on a Friday probably didn't help.

If they have only done it twice how do we know which is the exception and which is the rule? For all we know Oregon may be the only P12 team capable of selling the thing out.

I think people are starting to see that the SEC has a special set of circumstances that make their CG a better sell to fans. No matter what teams make it the fanbases will be rabid football fans, unlike the P12 or ACC, and the location makes it an easy drive for everyone, unlike the B1G.

Stanford had ~30k at their stadium last night.

I agree home field advantage would be awesome.

What does that have to do with moving the games to NFL stadiums at neutral sites? And it just seems odd to use Stanford's inability to fill its stadium for a CCG (or any school that cannot sell out its home stadium ever) as the measure of whether schools like Michigan and Texas and Nebraska and FSU can do so. I promise you, every B10 home stadium would sell out for a B10CCG. I cannot speak for other conferences, but moving those games to Indianapolis in the B10 hurts attendance, it doesn't help attendance. It's dumb.
