B1G proposes 4 team playoff scenario

Imagine a 4 team playoff where USC is playing at Bryant-Denny in December and LSU is playing in the Shoe...

Big Ten open to football playoff idea that puts national semifinal games on college campuses

The Big Ten likes the idea of the semifinals being hosted by the top two seeds, which could bring southern teams north for the postseason sometimes.

Slive's scenario never went that far into the details. He was mainly seeing if anyone was up for the concept. Would be best to be on campus for the semi's for sure.
I'd also like to the the BCSCG rotated away from the 4 BCS sites. Keep them in the rotation but also add Dallas, Atlanta, Indy, Detroit, San Diego, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Houston like the Super Bowl does.

Pac12 would definitely be on board. I believe Larry Scott has already stated he's for a playoff.

Yes, he has stated that...I think with Delany coming out like this being so outspoken, they'll all get on board, even Slive. It's inevitable. Now, as for a Big Ten playoff, it just doens't sound like it's going to happen anytime soon based on what Delany is saying, about first needing to "take the temperature" of Big Ten presidents, AD's, etc.

You do understand that the Universities wouldn't be doing the bidding right? The cities would bid along with sponsors.

The universities wouldn't be bidding. It would be the host sites that would be bidding (Dallas, Indy, Atlanta, etc)

I'm skeptical that the SEC wants even the possibility of playing games north of the Mason/Dixon line in December. From a B1G point of view, it would make things infinitely more interesting.

One interesting question - who gets the money from the ticket sales and TV rights for the semi-final games? Normally, all ticket revenue is kept by the home team and the TV rights belong to that team's conference. If that model is maintained, it would be a big payday for the #1 and #2 teams (and their conferences) every year.

To be fair, the only game the b1g plays in December North of the Mason/Dixon line is in a dome.
Why didn't they put the b1gcg in Chicago or Green Bay?
But as I mentioned earlier, power running teams like Alabama and LSU would never be able to play in the cold.

I like the idea of a four team playoff, don't like the idea of having them be on college campuses.
I would prefer neutral site locations. Wouldn't be fun as a fan to have to be out in the cold, and I don't like the idea of the elements
playing a part in who wins the game.
