BAMA vs. ND

I hear ya. Most people I talk to say that UGA is not a #3 team...
They are right where they need to be in order to control there fate so...

I don't think they are either, but I think everyone would have questions about any of the other teams in their position as well.

Only response I have is that they still have to beat #2 Alabama and #1 Notre Dame. If all that happens, they like anyone who does that deserves what they get.

UGA and ND have the same issue of sliding by some weaker teams, but still winning. The difference is that ND took care of their stronger teams and one of UGA's beat the by 33.

Oregon- lost to the only top 20 team they've played and after Arizona and UCLA beating USC as well, how good does that win look anymore.

K St- same as UGA, but to a team with a losing record at the time.

Florida- has looked awful at times, but does have an impressive list of wins. FSU game will answer questions, IMO.

FSU- could be the best and probably is one of the top 3 teams in the country. Loss to NC St hurts, but probably not as much as WVU dropping from their schedule. WVU has fallen, but they still wouldn't kill their computer rankings as much as a 2nd FCS team. Killing Florida would make me sick if I were a FSU fan knowing what could have been.

    good break down.

Obviously both teams still have games left.

Regardless of who the media would crown as champ before it happened, can you imagine the build up?

I honestly think it would be one of the biggest there has ever been. 2 of the best programs in history, both have good teams. It would be epic, and I hope that it comes down to that.

Of course, this has turned into a heated discussion (to say the least), but I think you said it best... The build up is going to be great. I'm not sure who has the most loyal (and sometimes wishful) fans, ND or AL. I've got friends in random parts of the country that love both teams, with a weird, blinding passion, even though they didn't go to those respective schools. I'm crossing my fingers for just such a game. I'm looking for a room and flight right now (call me an SEC fan more than anything...)

Who knows what would happen with ND/Bama ND/Georgia.

All I know is that they may win and they may lose. ND will not get blown out by anyone. Their defense is too good to let that happen. What is more likely is that its 13-3 or 10-0 or something crazy like that.

However, if you think that ND doesn't have the talent to stay with an SEC you're blind. Name one player on the ND defensive line that wouldn't play significant minutes on any line in the SEC?

Tuitt? KLM? Nix? Shembo? Need I remind you that all of those players were recruited by SEC schools.

In all fairness, Vegas had every SEC team thats in the top 10 as a 9+ favorite against Notre Dame. Im not saying that Alabama would win but theres plenty of people that dont think Notre Dame can beat Bama, Ga, Florida, Lsu or Texas A&M.

I saw that as well. I am not saying I don't feel that a number of SEC teams could beat Notre Dame, but the guys in Vegas aren't in the business of predicting games. They are in the business of predicting betting lines. Any top SEC team is going to get a 2-3 point bump against Notre Dame for perception, because the betting public will jump heavily on the SEC team.

What did Vegas have for Texas A&M vs Bama? How about ND vs Oklahoma? What about Oregon vs Stanford? How about KSU vs Baylor?

  • First of all, Bama will have an easier road to the game. Yeah, the Iron Bowl, but Auburn is just inexplicably and absolutely awful this year. And Georgia has 1 quality win and 1 no show in South Carolina. I expect them to lose big to Bama, probably by 20.

ND will have its hands full. This new QB is not some campus walk on. He takes risks and throws downfield. Plus he has nothing to lose. I think the Irish will win, but by a nose. Maybe by a 37 yard FG to go up 3 with less than a minute to play. USC/Kiffin has alot on the line here. They are trying to salvage a season of utter disappointment and a recruiting class that many would move from solid to soft during the month of December. With this game, Kiffin is fighting for his very job there.

You mean the same Vegas that had Oklahoma -10.5 against Notre Dame and Alabama -16 agianst Texas A & M? I wish people would stop acting like the SEC is far and away better than anyone else. The ruth is that the only good SEC wins so far are over each other. I just think its amazing that Vegas thinks Notre Dame would be dogs by more points than they allow. Alabama, Georgia, Florida and LSU are all flawed teams. None of them can do a thing offensively, so itll come down to defense.

ND would play any SEC "elite team" closely.

What a classic game ND-Bama would be. Only sissies without any calluses on their hands (or Georgia/Florida fans) wouldn't want to see that. And it would be good for America to see two physical football teams play hard for a championship to remind us that grit and sweat count more than sitting in the air conditioning listening to Nickelback.

Didnt really consider Michigan a good win for Alabama. If you do...

Alabama has played two top 15 teams, they are 1-1. Point differential -1.
Notre Dame has played two top 15 teams, they are 2-0. Point differential +24.

Its just funny that Alabama fans now need to claim Michigan as a big win. Early in the season, it was just Michigan.

    Really?

A USC team with a first time starting freshman QB?

If Notre Dame doesn't win that game handily, then they deserve the doubts that they are getting now.

    BetterOff

  • We could sit here all day going back & forth about lines, favorites & who would clobber who. Bottom line is, Bama is a great team & ND is trying to prove they are great. The games are played on a field not on a message board. ND still has to beat a very talented USC team in their own stadium & Bama has to play a dangerous UGA. If it happens it will be the biggest MNC game ever between CFB's 2 most storied programs. Who would have thought this was possible?

No, at this point Alabama fans don't have to claim anything. Michigan sucks. Their defense was slow and not very physical at all. The fact that they have crept back near the top 10 in defense really shows how weak the rest of their schedule has been. We beat them by 27 if I remember correctly. Alabama just has to win. There is no need to claim anything. It is all there to be taken. Same for Notre Dame and UGA. Let the people that need this and need that claim stupid sh!t if they want to.

Are you mentally challenged? When did any Bama fans claim Michigan as a "big win"?

If Bama beats UGA next weekend, they will have played three top 10 teams and beating two of them. Also have and will have a better SoS.
