    So where does it say in that link that the conferences accept only the BCS standings as legitimate? I cant seem to find that part of it.

    Did the BCS (a.k.a.....Conference commissioners) decide to throw out and not use the AP vote? What does that tell you?

    Who cares? What we KNOW is the language used is very specific. At no time does the contract between the BCS and the conferences ever discuss crowning a national champion.

    And you keep posting links to the same thing. That the conferences make no reference to a national championship, and only talk about sending eligible teams to specific bowls.

    No...you have it backwards again.

    The AP told the BCS that they could not use their rankings. The BCS did not "throw out" the AP, the AP threw out the BCS.

  • I believe the AP told the BCS to stop using their poll. That part is true. When the conferences decide to use the AP system then the AP will mean something again.

  • Having all conferences use a system legitimizes the BCS. What legitmizes the AP? Nothing at all. It would be as legit if we started tBB National Title poll. We could make whoever champion but In the eyes of the fans outside of messageboards and Universities it wouldn't mean anything.

    ^^^^^ This! The AP wanted no part of what happened in 2003, did not want to be forced - by contract, to change their ranking. Both have done alright with their decision.

  • The conferences entered into the BCS so I'm going to take whoever they crown. AP doesn't mean much anymore IMO.

  • BTW I'm not claiming the 04 season for Auburn. I wish we got a chance at USC. We didn't but we still had a perfect season and did very well. USC won the championship that year but they probably do get a * next to that one for it being taken away by the BCS.
